looking for ways to defoliate the OUTSIDE of my pasture fence that goes into some wooded areas. mostly to keep vines from messing with the electric strands (top wire and predator wire)

Weed burner?? I have one, but since I got it for Christmas haven't really used it except to light off the brush pile. But I do plan to use it for this purpose once it stops snowing.....

How does the weed burner not set your pastures on fire?

anyone have extensive expereience with a weed burner? I can just see me lighting the woods on fire with it, but it was the first thing I thought of too.

Yep, burn it. Use it on a calm day when things are not too dry.

borrow some goats! :) I usually turn the electric off on my bottom line when I want them to do some "mowing." they figure out pretty quickly whether it's on or off and will eat anything appealing under the bottom wire. For the unappealing stuff, I'd agree that burning is probably the easiest thing to do. Just be sure you don't accidentally torch any poison ivy or poison oak or anything. if the smoke touches you or anyone else it will mess you up in a bad way!

Mow it is what I do for the same thing.
