I know nothing about chickens, so please be nice to me. I am asking this for the wonderful 11-year-old who supplies me with an endless stream of free eggs from his laying hens and an occasional organic hen for roasting. ;)

My friend is looking for Black Silkie Bantams, 2 hens and 1 rooster. He's looked on Craigslist (no luck) and contacted some vendors, but most of the vendors are saying they can't ship this particular variety until July. As this is a 4-H project, one would prefer to have them before July.

Ideas, please? We're in Columbus, OH if that matters. Would also take suggestions for other places/forums to ask this question.

Not exactly what he wants, but close.
I didn't check the entire forum, but this site can probably help out.

Try this place. Found it while searching for coop plans.

Jen, see if www.townlilnehatchery.com has any of the kind you need--they are really close by and I wouldn't mine being foster mom to some banties for a month or two. I'm sure somebody is making a trip down your way sometime for some show somewhere.
