View Full Version : EAP Zone 7? Anyone have a spot open in their trailer?

I just found out on Saturday I made the EAP, Zone 7--evidently they had emailed me a couple of weeks ago, but I never received it, yikes.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to get there--it'll cost me about $1,200 to pay a shipper, which I can't afford. It's (of course) the same weekend that one of the boarder's is having her wedding reception at the barn, so I can't get a ride from my barn manager/owner.
Is there anyone who made it to Zone 7 who would be able to give one more a ride? I can afford to pay a shipper to take me a few hours, just not 13/14 or whatever it ends up being...I'm in Buda, Texas (basically South Austin). Of course I would pay my share of the hauling! (Oh, and of course I could get my horse to where you guys were at unless, by chance, it happened to be on the way and you wouldn't mind :) Whatever works!)
Or maybe anyone who wants to split a shipper? Covering the options..
If we can't get a ride from anyone, we're going to try to find someone with a 2-horse we can take. (We only have an 8 and a 4.) Or I'll have to see if I can lease someone down there. We shall see!
Good luck to everyone! I'll (hopefully) be the one on the chestnut TB gelding making a fool of herself (hopefully not) :) I'm rather nervous!

If you don't find a shipper, maybe you could borrow a horse for the EAP.

I got into zone 2 and I'm leasing a horse for it. I don't remember where, but I read over half of those who do the eap borrow a horse either because they dont currently have one or because there horse is far away. I'm in the former group, and my friend who also got in is in the latter :) you wouldn't be alone!

Congratulations for getting in! I'm attending the EAP Zone 3 clinic and I'm borrowing a horse. I don't currently have a horse (mine is recovering from an injury) but was offered several wonderful horses to borrow for the clinic. If you can't find a shipper let people know you need something to borrow. Best of luck!

Thanks, guys--I'm really excited! Congrats to you two, as well!
It's good to know it's really common to lease. It may come down to that, but we'll see.. I'm so short I would feel a lot better on one I knew I wouldn't risk me struggling fit-wise on--I'm 4'11 with no leg. Jealous, much? heheh.. But it'll be okay if I can't bring the horse I wanted to, it's just not my first choice (like most everyone else)

@Rel6--Ugh! Hope he was smooth :) IHSA is one thing, but 2 days of a 2 hour clinic with a big name? I'd be afraid of risking myself failing miserably in front of everyone, hahah.. I'm sure you will be perfectly fine, though! I've lucked out that my trainer is letting me steal one of her guys that's really narrow. Everyone tells me I look like a normal person on him, so proud :)

I bet you've got your IHSA pics of littlegirl/bighorse to match mine! Glad you found something :) I personally downsized to a narrow 17.2 lol

@Relc6--Hahahah, that is pretty much just the story of my life. (Why no one ever bought me a pony is beyond me..) Narrow makes up for being 17.2 :)

I suppose I'm extremely lucky to be borrowing a 16h guy after reading this haha!
Are you guys doing the 1.10 or 1.20 meter section?

I'm doing the 1.20m section as well. That's funny. Finding horses to borrow can be tricky sometimes. I'm super lucky to have found such a fantastic little horse to borrow. I hope you find just the right one as well!

Too bad I didn't apply this year, you're in my area. Maybe you could borrow a horse from the University?

Hay I go to school at the woods and am doing EAP there next weekend. If you have any questions about anything feel free to ask! Did you get a ride for your horse or are you using one of ours? Looking forward to meeting you next week! But again feel free to ask any questions about our facility or horses.

I found a ride! Thanks so much! Random, I actually think we're fb friends, hahah. If you're the only one from the university in it :) I was just going to message you, but other people may have the same questions?
Do you know if we can hack on Friday? If allowed and I dare do a light hack after such a long haul (bleh..) The horse I'm taking hasn't been many places. Nor have I!
Also, are we in an outdoor/indoor/covered arena?
Thank you!!

Hay yah i think we are fb friends lol! glad to hear you found a ride! You will be able to hack on Fri when you get here if you want. As long as the weather cooperates, which so far it is supposed to, we will ride outside. If it rains or something we'll move inside. See you in a few days!
