View Full Version : Ok, so I really NEED a five point breastplate...

I do. I swear. I have a middle aged gelding with high withers and a long-ish back, coupled with a wasp waist and is a little slab-sided. My saddle fits him, however given his shape as we get into a workout it wants to slide southward to an uncomfortable degree. Regular breastplates don't seem to solve the girth-sliding problem, so it seems that I really must NEED a five point.

I've been eyeing the Five Star tack one, as I like the lack of sheepskin on the shoulders - I will admit to being not so good about keeping sheepskin clean and would like something that is still going to look nice in five years (and preferably, won't break the bank!).

Suggestions? I'd like something that at least sort-of matches my Delgrange, which is a dark oakbark-y, reddish brown color.

A little more expensive, but good fit options: http://www.thermatex.co.uk/five-point-breast-plate-1837-0.html

On clearance, but not sure what color the brown is: http://www.equestrianclearance.com/weatherbeeta/collegiate-5-point-breastplate/index.html

removable velcro! and goes with my reddish brown devocoux well enough for my liking, though I don't worry so much about matching.

Bartville Harness carries both an elastic and non-elastic one, I believe, and bet it would look just as nice for a whole lot less $$$ :)

have not used their breast plate, but I have been thrilled with their bridles... their customer service is the best I have encountered... I HIGHLY recommend the company :) beautiful tack!

I also liked the five star one. Opted for the new hunting style bit of Britain five point one. I like that it doesn't have fleece and still has elastic. And matches :)

The prestige one is beautiful and kinda that color maybe??
