View Full Version : Desperately seeking cavesson

It had to happen eventually, but TOTD bit me. I have never been disappointed in a purchase, and this one is not their fault, but I'm still in a bind.

The eventing bridle I purchased without looking as closely as I should have has the HUGE heavy padded cavesson that simply cannot be used on the fine dainty head of my mare.

So I have a lovely brand new Courbette padded snaffle bridle in berber brown that I cannot use unless I replace the cavesson. Actually I have two but one I purchased as a dressage bridle many years ago for a different horse that could handle that heavy/wide of a cavesson without looking like he was wearing his older brothers hand-me-downs...

I've emailed Courbette - no answer, not even a "call Stubben". I've emailed Stubben, but no reply. My local tack shops that used to be dealers for Courbette cannot get what I need either due to the merger.

What I am desperately seeking is a cob sized NARROW padded regular french cavesson in berber brown.

Anyone have a source?

The new saddle this bridle was intended to match will be here next week!

Try here: http://www.classicsaddlery.com/bridles/courbettehunter.htm

They may be able to sell you a cavesson

or here: http://www.tomswesternstore.com/products.php?cat=318
and here: https://shop.horsemensoutlet.biz/istar.asp?a=3&dept=ENGTAC&manufacturer=OTHER&sortby=&numperpage=12&pos=96
Here they say they have replacement parts for all courbette bridles: http://www.horseworldemporium.com/web%20page1.htm

Not sure if the Bobby's color matches: http://www.foxhuntingshop.com/catalog/Hunt_Bridles_Martingales.html

Might also check for color match with barnsby: http://www.barnsby.com/products/accessories-barnsby-all-purpose-padded-noseband/default.asp

Definitely worth a call to just bridles: http://www.justbridles.com/

can you not just send the bridle back and start fresh?

If I remember correctly, Tack of the Day does not accept returns

I think I might have one - I will check for you. If I do have one, I will just give it to you, as it needs a new home.

PS - Stubben and Courbette merged?

Yes, TOTD has a no returns policy. Which has never bothered me before, as I'm usually very careful to make sure I have seen the item in question and know it will fit... But I love Courbette bridles and was excited to see a good sale on one in the color I wanted without a flash and with grippy reins, so didn't look closely enough at the heavy/wide noseband. My bad, not theirs!

See it just so happens that the Courbette berber brown very very closely matches the brown Devoucoux Chiberta saddle that is currently in transit! No way I can have my kiddo take my mare into the show ring with a lovely new saddle and either her black dressage bridle or her newmarket jump bridle. How tacky! :D
