I know HITS is there so there must be some pretty good places, any recommendations?

Tucson, not Tuscon. ;)

I think a bunch of us would recommend Susie Straus. http://www.wellspringfarm.net/

We just moved out to Tucson from the east coast. I visited most of the larger H/J barns in the Tucson area before making our choice. We are so fortunate to have found an incredible trainer! Her name is Ashley Stannard, she owns Ashbrook Farm

Very active barn with a great training and show program. She has programs for adults and children, can not say enough nice things about the barn and all the riders there. They compete on the local circuit and the rated ones as well.

Ashley has a great talent when it comes to teaching and training. It takes a very special person to start the young children out properly without being to hard. We wanted a barn where my daughter could be brought up correctly while having fun still and where I could ride and really work on equitation.

Hope that helps! Good luck in your searches =)
