Seriously! On the internet this morning; a young girl in Germany on her jumping cow "Luna."

What a hoot!

I read that story, but I didn't see any pictures or video. Where's the photographic evidence?

I just saw this on People.com:

There's a photo of the cow, mid-jump, and I swear it's wearing splint boots.

I was reading this on msnbc and had to come over here to see what you all had to say. This is a cute story and props to the girl. Yes, the cow has her splint boots on, the girl has her helmet, but the saddle looks more like a dressage saddle to me.

This young lady really wants a horse, she's one of us . And per what people are saying in the comments, cows are quite the jumpers!

That brings up the next question- how do you find a saddle and girth that fit a cow?!?

It also makes you re-think the meaning of saying a horse "jumps like a cow."

Her saddle appeared to be tree-less and also had a crouper on which I thought was cute. She does need to keep her eyes up over the fences though.

We need to convince her to send a photo in for a GM critique.:lol:

I think the kid is amazing for training this cow and having the gumption to go out and do what she loves.
I hope some kind German horsey person sends her a horse (although she admits to loving Luna).

The boots made me laugh too - all very correct!

Adorable - and rather humbling!!

OK, guys, who will offer to start a collection to get this girl a horse?

Does anyone here know someone that works at a shipping company? Can they donate a shipping for free for the publicity??

There has to be an open spot on those horse transport containers for the trip back, considering all the horses that come from Europe here!

The family apparently owns a farm... so they have the room...

It would be one lucky pony!

Right?

What excuse is there for those of us who actually have the right species for our activity? It's like watching the videos of the dressage camels doing tempi lead changes!

Wouldn't it make more sense to buy her a horse that's already in Europe? Preferably in Germany?

Exactly my thought! I am game, although I agree that it would be better to find one already there. Wouldn't take much if 250 people each sent in $20.

I'd be one to chip in. Any girl who can do that deserves a horse.

 I noticed that too!

I know if my parents didn't get me a horse I would have been just like this girl. I actually put blankets and ropes on the wall in the back yard until I DID get that horse!

The story is cute.

AND yes to chipping in!!

She was just shown in the 8:00 news segment of the Today show!

There was a very brief video clip of her trotting a little jump.

I too would chip in. I remember getting together with a friend when we were about 8 or so and trying to catch a cow and saddle it. Needless to say it was a major fail. Kudos to anyone who can do as much as this girl did.

I was thinking the same thing! I just watched her 'hand gallop' video, and Rowdy's boots were on the front and tight. Must have been made right after the 'shin slpint boots' video. LOL.
