Jumps! :D

Faced with no money and a large pile of scrap lumber, I have decided to build my own jumps. So far, I have a set of standards, a coop, and a picket fence gate. I would love to see some creative jumps that could possibly be modified for my use.

I get a ton of compliments about this

When we were clearing out one of my fields, I made hubby save all the larger branches and small trees. I made two A's out of 2x4's and then screwed the trees up each side to make a cheap, cute coop. The bark is starting to peel now, but oh well.

I'm not sure where you are in VA, but call around to your local sand pits or any place that uses heavy equipment, I get these from my hubby's work (free)

that are used for hydraulic oil
and these
that are used for grease.

I have a gate
made from 2x4's

and one of the local barns likes to wrap tinsel around the poles and hang stuff from the standards

and a few more.

hubby made the wishing wells out of scaps from building the barn

the walls are thin 1/4" plywood overtop of a 2x4 U. I rolled white paint on, then freestyled the stones for the stone wall, and for the brick wall I did strips of tape and then rolled the red overtop.

I have an old 2'3" culvert

I don't have any pictures, but I'm also taking the low barrels and standing 4 up together as a "solid" fence.

The carpet fell apart for this, but its a rectangle made from 2x4's, with barrels stapled in to keep them from rolling, then carpet stapled overtop.

The dollar store is useful for things that inflate, and pool noodles that can be cut up and attached to the lumber for an interesting hedge. Trust me, if they'll jump that, they'll jump anything. I think we had a pool-noodle bullfinch for a while too...

Jumper- great ideas, thank you. Love the wishing wells, btw. I really want to make some of those.

Ibex- a pool-noodle bullfinch...wow.

I've posted this before when people have been looking for ways to make homemade liverpools.

My trainer has windmills that spin (well before they fell down in a monsoon rain storm) windmills (http://i53.tinypic.com/j7537t.png) that her husband built for her this is the only picture I have of them but once a horse goes over a spinning windmill they will go over EVERYTHING

My husband made a panel jump using two vinyl shutters, similar to the ones in the link below. He screwed the ends of two shutters together, then screwed the shutters to a 2x4. Nothing fancy, but didn't cost much at all.

No pictures, but we made brush boxes out of a wooden pallet that I got for free from the feed store. Cut it in half so the slats run horizontally. Paint it white, put feet on it, and stuff it with flowers from the dollar store. Easy easy and cute.
