I want a special nameplate for my saddle and am not loving the plain square brass English ones.

I like the fancy silver trimmings on Western saddles. What would I search to find one of the silver nameplates? Thanks!

Post a pic when you get one please! I just googled silver cantle plates and there were many options.

If you don't find what you want with Montana Silversmiths, any one local bit maker will make you whatever you wish.
Ask your local saddlemaker who does in your area.

Thanks, Bluey. I am ultrasuburban Boston and we don't exactly have a lot of custom saddle stuff around here. At least now I know that they're called cantle plates.

If cantle plates is what you want, Montana Silversmith has all kinds of them, the narrowest one probably would fit an English saddle.
They can engrave your initials, name, brand, whatever you want on it.

You may even suggest they market those to the English riding market.

I do like my plain brass one, but I am sure many riders today would love to have a discrete silver design plate for theirs.

I sent Montana an email. I do need something shorter - their shortest one is about 5 inches. But I love them! It's exactly what I want.

Try contacting Holly Spagnola and see if she either already has some or could custom design one for you, I highly recommend her work, it is really beautiful.

Not much information on her website, but there is contact information on it, and she is on FaceBook also.
