I recently picked up a pair of Petries on Craigslist for a song. They are pull-ons and I would love to add zippers and use them as schooling boots and back-up show boots. The calf is currently about 2cm too big. Can the calf actually be made smaller when adding zippers?? Anyone know someone in the Southern Pines area that can do this??

I know it can be done. I bought a pair of Petries two years ago and the
seller (in Germany) had her saddle maker put zippers in to make them fit
my 12.5 inch calves. The zippers are of the heavy duty variety. I love my
boots!

Yes, it can be done. But make sure you ask around for a GOOD shoemaker/leathersmith to do the job. I went to a shoemaker who told me she could do it, no problem. It looks like a 5yo did the job and I don't see them holding up well!

Woody's in WPB could do it if you send your boots with detailed instructions to them.
