View Full Version : Padded Dressage Girth

I'm looking for a well padded, leather dressage girth that won't break the bank - ie, $150 tops. A client dropped off a brand new Chetak girth for her horse, which I LOVED at first, but after using it almost daily for a couple months, the padding is barely existent anymore. I'd preffer elastic on both ends and roller buckles. Any suggestions?

You should try the Barnsby Comfort Dressage girth from their "Club" line, it's really soft, nicely padded, elastic on both ends and about $150

I bought a Nun Finer (I think that's the name) two and a half years ago, and it is still in excellent condition. I think you would really like the padding, and it was definitely under $150, although I can't remember exactly what I paid.

The Nunn Finer Piaffe is a very nice girth with a LOT of padding. It's about $100 new.

I have looked at the Nunn Finer Piaffe, but found the couple times I used it that the sliding strap attached to the buckles as difficult to attach evenly. It doesn't seem like it would have the same 'give' as elastic would, either. Thoughts?

The nun finer Passage girth has elastic on both sides and roller buckles, around $110. Advanced Saddlery has a super nice girth well padded and around 139.00 I have both the second one is just a little nicer.

Yep, the Nunn Finer Passage girth, or I think Albion makes one that's basically the same girth with a different name stamped on. ;) Shaped, padded, elastic on both ends, won't break the bank compared to the Prestige or Schumacher ones -- love them. I'd buy several if my girth budget wasn't maxed out at $50! They are super, super nice.

You can find used County Logic girths in that price range.
I have used some of mine HARD (3+ horses daily for over a year) and it is great. Horses love it, leather is great, buckles are good, LOVE the design, elastic on both ends. I liked it so well, that I bought 3-4 more in different sizes, and am actually still shopping for yet another.
Some sizes are really hard to find, but the quality is great!

Red Barn by KL Select makes a couple different styles of padded, double elastic girths. Very nice, hold up well for daily use, clean up great for shows. $160ish

Thanks, all! Has anyone tried the Joseph Sterling from Schneider's? I just bought a Joseph Sterling bridle and am very impressed with it. The girth looks nice!
I went into a local shop that carries Nunn Finer girths and the Pirouette girth had very hard, limited padding to it. Are the Passage and Piaffe different?
