View Full Version : Dressage Show recommendations for Southern NH/Northeast MA

I'm currently riding at an eventing barn, but I'm plotting with a friend of mine to run off and cheat on our discipline by going to a straight dressage show or two this spring. We both enjoy our dressage, and a day spent just concentrating on that sounds like a blast to us. The horses are in Nashua, and we'll need to arrange for transportation (we don't have a trailer, we usually ship with our eventing trainer), so we're planning well ahead of time.

What are your favorite shows in that area? Schooling is our first choice, but rated is definitely a possibility, especially come early summer. Location is key due to our transportation woes. I'm just going Training, she'll be going higher. Not sure which level, but her big lug was a dressage horse in his previous life.

Thanks in advance!

Here's a list of schooling shows in NE from the NEDA website. It is from last year and probably won't be updated until early March but it should give you an idea of what is out there.

Welcome to the dark side...

Wait, they said that when I started eventing. So which side is truly the dark side?

I was told the dark side had cookies. Who has the cookies?!

Hello fellow NH rider! I went to the Muzzey Hill and NEDA schooling shows last season and was very pleased. I am from Milford and each was about 45 minutes away. Feel free to message me if you want more details about footing, judging, etc.

There aren't too many recognized shows in the area except for UNH. Hope this helps!

If your just looking for a fun show you could go to the Oak Rise dressage shows in Goffstown.

Very low key, lots of fun :)

And hey, if your ever riding in the Weare area send me a pm :)

UNH has several rated shows; I think Hilltop and Green Acres (in Dover and Madison, respectively), have schooling shows - or at least you can do the dressage parts of their eventing schooling shows.

Our local club - Southern New Hampshire Dressage & CT has two schooling shows. One is July 17 at UNH and the other is Sept 24 at Oak Rise. More details on the website at: http://www.snhdcta.com/ We also have several dressage and CT clinics.

I LOVE the Oak Rise shows - I did several of them last year, and they are very low key and friendly.
