I wasn't sure where to post this, thought I would try here. Does anyone know if there is an organization in northern Virginia for placing outdoor cats on farms? I know of a cat in the Woodbridge area who would make an excellent farm cat, and needs to be moved from where he is currently staying. It is a male, neutered & shots UTD. Seems to be a good mouser. I know there are a couple of groups in Pennsylvania that do this, not familiar with VA. If there is such a thing, could you post contact info, I will let the people caring for the cat know. Thanks!

Could you ask your horse vet or farrier if they have any clients looking for barn cats?

You can also put up flyers at the local tack shops/feed stores. :)

There are a lot of feline rescues in NoVA, but I'm not familiar with any that place 'barn' cats specifically. Most of them want the cats to remain indoors.

http://horsetalkmagazine.com/misclass.html They have a few listings from groups placing feral/barn cats here. The cat's care givers may be able to contact them for some networking to find this guy a new home.

There is a cat rescue in Arlington or Alexandria that sterilizes feral cats and adopts them out as barn cats. I'm not sure they'd take the cat but there's no harm in asking.

The name escapes me at the moment but you might try Petfinder.com and see if you can track them down using location and species.

If I remember the name I'll post back.

Good luck.

Middleburg Humane Society places a lot of barn kitties- maybe they can help. They are in the area where there are tons of barns and hopefully some demand for the mousers! Best of luck to the kittie.
