Sorry there have been so many of these lately, but I've read through them and still wasn't inspired!

Christmas is fast approaching and I still have no idea whatsoever to get my trainer. :(

I've been with my trainer just going on 4 months now. But it feels more like 4 years. Already she has given me much more than I could have ever imagined and it doesn't feel just like a paying customer kind of relationship. She has taken me on as her groom for the up and coming show season (along with some clinics and other events thrown in here and there) and is giving me so many hands-on experiences. Along with letting me ride one of her very special horses lately: a 5 y/o Oldenburg gelding worth much more than I could even dream of.

I have decided on a price range of up to $40, but from there I'm stuck. I'm not sure what would be an appropriate gift to give, and I want to give her something she will be extremely grateful for.

Ideas?

One year I purchased a gift certificate for a comedy club for my trainer. May not work for everyone but I knew he loved one of the upcoming acts and he had a blast!

On a different tack- writing a heartfelt note such as what you wrote here might be the most meaningful thing you could do!

How about a gift certificate to a nice restaurant?

Last year, I e-mailed my client's mailing list and let them know I was making a wall calendar for her and wanted everyone to contribute photos of themselves and their horses. About half the folks sent pictures via e-mail and I got it out about a week late, but it turned out nice and was a spot in the tack room to look at her schedule of shows. So maybe that might be an idea?

I love the calendar idea--I'm thinking of doing that next year. I can always pad it out by taking pictures of her dogs and horses.
