after seeing the name "TheBunnyStomper" on a post in off course, how did you all come up with your COTH names?
Mine, of course, is because I breed coloured SPOTted Thoroughbreds, and is also a tribute to "Spot" - the lovely Spot Pocket who passed on WAY too early in 2003.
Bunny Stomper - how in GOD'S name did you come up with your name?
I'd love to hear the story behind the other not-obvious-at-all names!

Yah reeeeaaaallyy wanna know? LOL - I get that a LOT! I used to ride a 4th level mare who was, well, let's say...interesting. Her barn name is Sybil, if that tells you ANYTHING. She loved people - and nothing else, hated other horses, other animals, you name it. If they were around, she got very territorial. But looooved people. And she was usually very laid back and unassuming and VERY intelligent. This mare was a mental GIANT among horses.
My trainer was riding her one day in the outdoor arena on a loose rein. All of a sudden, Sib takes off, ears pinned, galloping like mad towards a bunny that had wandered into the arena. She clamps on the bit, and CHARGES the fluffy-tailed sucker down. She narrowly missed squishing it. After the offending bunny hitailed it out of there, she perked her ears, slowed to a walk and went back to being her normal, laid-back self.
My trainer told me that story and I DIED laughing. After she moved, I decided to use that name as my SN and UN for all forums, so she would know it was me. So, there it is, the story behind my name. Yes, I am The Bunny Stomper riding her Stomping mare - bunnies beware!
Aaahhhh...I'm just weird.
it it were easy, we'd all be going to the olympics.

Wow this brings back memories! (for me, at least) In the old days when I first started the hunters, my trainer and our crew would make up division names.. like Short Stripper (Short Stirrup) and Hopeless Hunter (Hopeful Hunter) and stuff like that. Well I didn't think that Short Stripper was appropriate for a PUBLIC place, lol, so I became hopeless hunter. I don't know if I am hopeless or not, I guess you will just have to ask my trainer about that!! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Mine is GatoGordo because of my opinionated, upper-middle-aged, http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif affectionate, vocal, d@mm cat. She is 14 lbs, and, no, she is not a Maine Coon type, she is just fat, probably should be 12 lbs or so. My dad is very good friends with a couple who are both originally from Spain (came here for graduate school), and I remember, when I was a lot younger, trying to impress them with my gato, who is, I quote, "muy gordo". http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif
My SN used to be BostonGold, after two influential dogs in my life, a wise, gentle, Golden Retriever and a vivacious and irascible Boston Terrier, but I kept getting confused with the poster BostonBanker. I changed my name because she had the name long before I registered, and her name is after a specific horse, not a desperate attempt to be able to finally come out of lurkdom. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The three horses I owned in my former life as a horse owner all had two hind socks. I always wanted four socks. All on the same horse. When I start looking for another horse, I'm going to have to think of a way of ensuring I get four...well, I'd take three, too...um, more than two socks with my new horse without appearing weird and shallow to potential sellers. I just *know* I'm going to end up with horse number 4 having only two hind socks...

If ya must know...I have 3 lovely bunnies that sit beside my computer and play on COTH with me. Every so often when they are running around and think I am spending more time on COTH than i am with them, they will eat through the wires. They are strategic about it though. They wait until I am at the end of a very long brain-labouring post that has taken me several hours to type. Then, and only then will they chew through the wires enough to shut the computer down. I threatened them that while im typing a response (like now http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/yes.gif ) I will ALWAYS have my foot ready to squish the culprit who ventures near the wires. I have the screen name as a reminder for my bunnies (who usually sit on my desk and watch me type), as they can read, what their fate will be if the decide to hop off to the backside of the computer.

So, I live in Virginia...I guess by now I could come up with a better name...Can I be the Princess of Quitealot?

Pirateer was the name of my favorite boy. I showed him and dominated the Long Stirrup Hunters and Eq, and was quite competitive in the Childrens Hunters/ 3' Eq until he started stopping.
Then he broke his radius...A week before I broke mine, might I add.
I wanted to rescue him back to do the Adult Ams, but a woman at my barn is doing Yuck-ssage with him. I know he doesn't like it, I just KNOW it!

There used to be a discount clothing store hereabouts called Frugal Fannie's which advertised fairly heavily on TV.
One day when the horse dentist was here, I was behaving in normal cheap Yankee fashion (use up, reuse, recycle) and piecing together old lead shanks when he referred to the farm as Frugal Annie's. My first name is Anne and it stuck!
Now, may I borrow the vermin stomping horse, please?

Well.. he got the date right.. were working on the boy part (how ever much she acts like a gelding) So she became Tom's Boy. Or Just Tomboy. and im also a large bit of a Tomboy, im the girl who is a pryomaniac, would rather go to a robotics compition than go to a school dance.. yeah. and i own more jeans than anything else. mine is pretty unoriginal. I have a form of dsylexia, and have a hard time with things like initials and pin #'s.. so when I first came on a BB, I had to pick something that was easy for me to remember. So I picked "Lucy" the name of my wonderful TB mare. When I first joined this BB, I tried for "Lucy",but it was taken, so then (keeping it simple) I tried for "Cricket" (Lucy's sister), and since Cricket was also taken, I tried the name "Fred" which is the barn name of the apple of my eye, (and Lucy and Cricket's baby brother) A Fine Romance. so I became the cross-dressing "Fred". but I am actually a woman. Well, I am 19 now but I first developed this screenname when I was 12. I was in an online fantasy horse racing group on Prodigy (whoa, old school!). I decided to used flyingstardust.
flying- for speed
stardust- to describe a red roan coat of a horse
It's funny. The word stardust has always stuck with me. When I turned 18 I went and got a star tattoo that has in cursive through the center of it....
Stardust
yeah....Flyingstardust def. struck a chord with me.

I'd like to know Squisher's story, too. My name is also from the name of a Thoroughbred. I am not sure if he raced. He was the first Thoroughbred I was generously allowed to ride by his owner some 20 years ago. He was 20 or so then, and she had cleaned up with him in the Camden area many moons ago.

Actually, I thought that might be your horse's name. Mine horse is So Fine, AKA Sofie. So Fabulous would be a great name for a horse.

My baby dutch/TB cross is Twist of Fate, and 44 has always been my "lucky" number, if such a thing exists. Wish it was more original than that, something like Bunnystomper would be nice so that there is a story behind it, but hey, what can I say...love my baby!

Drive NJ cause we needed something for the two of us. We also have new horses Ned (Quarter/Percheron and "alert" to the world) and laid back Alex (Tbd/Percheron)and our plans are to... Drive NJ and beyond.
Jewels
Feb. 16, 2004, 09:15 AM
When I first joined the boards I was going to call myself BossPony because thats how my "childhood hero horse person" described me. She said I am the smallest kid in the barn, but I still demand as much respect as everyone else. Sorta like how the smallest mare in the herd always seems to be the most dominant. So my screen name was going to be that. But someone on here as a very similar one, so we don't get confused with each other, I settled for Jewels. The name of the horse I was leasing at the time. But Jewels has since sold, and I feel like I should change it to Clue or Painted Lady, to pay tribute to the new horses I am riding. Maybe someday I will change......

When I was little, I used to watch the cartoon My Little Pony. Wind Whistler was one of my favorites so I decided it would make a good Username.

houndsRus:
is all about my unreasonable notion that fox hounds make good house pets. I currently have two rescue hounds, Ariel and Zora Neale.
Ariel is 16 years old and has a brain tumor—the old gal has had a wonderful life. I’ll keep her going until she tells me it’s time. Currently, she is slanted to one side and has unsteady balance. However, she still smiles and plays and barks for her dinner—not yet time.
Zora Neale is 10 years old. She was severely abused and though I’ve had her for 8 years she still has “issues.”
We recently lost our wonderful bat-beagle Langston Hughes (interested parties can look up his related threads).
Wayne-DuPage Hunt Quasimodo 1999 will be the newest member of the family. He is currently still at the kennel. He’ll be coming home when he’s a bit more comfortable with his new mom.

I bought my hubby the personalized "vanity" plate INOMRED for Valentines day years ago. His nickname at the shows was Wilbur (as in Wilbur Post of Mr. Ed T.V. fame) so INoMrEd was a logical choice. I've adopted it for almost everything including our email address.

Great stories, y'all! Mine's not. My very first online adventure (late 1980's/early 90's) was a visit to a chat room the night my 'puter was hooked up. Someone there asked me for my "handle". I had a P75, so I had lots of time to think, and still the best I could do was "I'm the new Schoolmarm" from some idiot western of my misspent youth. I'm a teacher, so . . .

Being that at the time I signed on with the forums I didn't have a horse, I liked the name Driftwood for my potential future horse. Actually, it came from my younger days when I used to play a card game with a partner and he would call me Driftwood and/or Drifter, because I use to float along and he would occasionally have to "carry" me! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif Not as good a story as The Bunnystomper though! http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif

Was in Saudi, whiling away the final weeks of teaching (classes finished, just office hours) when I discovered the fascination that is the COTH BB.
Always been a hunter lover, and was deprived of them in Saudi (jumpers only!) (Jumpers are great too, but I grew up on hunters!)
Was originally Hunter73 (birthyear) but found that boring.

Mine's about as boring as it gets. The university assigns each student a name for their online applications. It is the first initial and the first 6 letters of your last name. Since I use it for school stuff I started using it for everything. But if you want I could make up a cool, but fake, story.

We get to pick ours, but I picked something traditional....first initial then my last name. So my user name is Sluther....I didn't realize it until a friend pointed it out and it was too late!! (break it up into two words) http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif
