Hi, I am writing an economic case study analysis on the insurance frauds involving Tommy Burns. Does anyone know what his sentence was? Is he in prison? Did he ever have to pay $$$ to insurance companies?
Anything regarding Tommy Burns' punishment will be greatly appreciated!! :)

Tommy would not have paid $$ to insurance companies, the people who held the policies on the horses killed were the ones who benefited, they paid Tommy to kill the horses. The owners of the horses were the ones guilty of insurance fraud, not Tommy. He was an accessory.

If he went to jail at all, I don't think it was for long. He was selling used cars within a few years, IIRC.

The definitive book on the subject is available in paperback for $6.99.

thanks! I understand that Tommy was just an accessory but I was wondering what it was he was exactly charged with... just his involvement with the insurance frauds? animal cruelty?

Burns was just an accessory? he was the paid killer/horse hitman.. ugh it makes me sick to think about that SOB slinking into stalls at night to do his dirty deadly deeds..

anyway any sentence he received would have been reduced because he turned states evidence...

There's gobs of info on the internet - curiously enough the John Edwards / Reille Hunter scandel brings it up again... check out this link

that book - Blood Money should just about have all the info you need.

If you are writing anything formal, it would probably be a good idea to get the source documents (actual court cases, etc).

Pretty sure it was a single count of wire fraud, because he cooperated.
