View Full Version : Help find Maclay finals flat video

So, my dad doesn't get why a Maclay flat class should be any more difficult than a regular EQ flat. I was trying to explain its just just WTC sitting trot, but he didn't get it. I explained about counter canter, flying/simple changes, etc. but I don't really think he got it.
Does anyone have a link to a flat class, either Maclay or otherwise, with more than the basic WTC?

Even at the Maclay Finals this year, they only asked for W/T/C and sitting trot, with and without stirrups. You won't see a change of lead or counter canter in the flat all that often.

The flat phase that differs is the USET. In a typical class, there are extensions at the trot and canter, along with the counter canter.
I have witnessed things such as extended sitting trot and counter canter, as well.
At USET finals, they often have a shoulder in or haunches in, sometimes a turn on the haunches or forehand, a leg yield, or a change of lead in front of the judge, or something.
