I recently moved from Virginia to Iowa and know nothing about the horse market out in the midwest. I am looking to take dressage lessons in the Ames/Des Moines area. If anyone knows of trainers around here please let me know. Thanks so much.

I am originally from Ames, but it has been a couple of years since I moved so my info may not been entirely correct. I believe that Canterbrooke Equestrian Center is the only barn in/near Ames that has a lesson program. I am not wild about the BM/instructor but you should definitely make your own opinion there. (She is not unsafe or anything, just a personality clash.) In DM, there are quite a few h/j barns but I cannot think of any dressage trainers off the top of my head. The posters asb_own_me and camstock live in the Ames/DM area and may have more suggestions than I can come up with for you. If you are there for school, ISU has an Equestrian Club/Team and they might also be able to help you. Good luck!!

ETA: Just checked out NJRider's link, had no idea IaDCTA had so much going on! It looks like camstock is giving dressage lessons. I can definitely recommend her-- she is very good. http://www.camstock.net/
