View Full Version : OK YouTube junkies - I need some help finding a few clips....

Oct. 4, 2010, 04:40 PM
I have a student who is really doing well, but her and her parents are still fairly new to the H/J scene, and I would like to find a few video examples of the following:

A Jumper round that shows the rider doing an auto release

A hunter round showing how the rider is soft and quiet, with quiet hands.

An Eq. course with plenty of technical challenges

A few links of the above, but with the rider coming up too soon, after the jump, and hitting the horse in the mouth.

Thanks in advance for your help!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ayD4e4iZpw - automatic release...not a course, but Anne K. teaching it at the Horsemastership Clinic.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6Bb0dXPfm8 - nice hunter round from Peter Pletcher and Redwine.

Still trying to find a bad video...there's plenty out there but you were very specific with what you wanted lol!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZq56f7qxPU Victoria Colvin is a lovely little rider. Very soft IMO. This is from the USHJA Derby so it isn't a traditional hunter course though.

what a great thread! Loading them all (satellite internet... this will only take 10 minutes too long... gotta love it) and hoping for even more recommendation links! These are definitely videos that can benefit my riding :)

Thanks so much for the videos so far! Also, I should add, I am happy to show her videos of Jr riders, and "regular" riders - aka not just Maclay winners.

She is a good little rider, but she rides and competes in Western and English, so I'm trying to find videos to help fine tune her a bit.

These are both jumper rounds.. nice light hands on both riders. Don't know if it is the release you are looking for but both of these riders make the big stuff look easy.

and a note for this one - Flexible is just one of my most favorite horses to watch (was there for this round, so close I could have touched him) - love the way Rich Fellers rides him too.

Here's a link to a quiet junior rider: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiqhRjQLiSI

This is only a 3' final (interesting technical challenges in the second and third rounds shown). Midaccord has a number good vids.

Thanks SO much for the links everyone! Now....does anyone have any links to a video that shows certain jumping faults? Like....getting ahead, getting left behind, standing on your toes, and coming up too soon, and popping the horse in the mouth, etc.)

You can PM me the links if you'd rather not post them.
