ok I saw these boots somewhere and now can't find them. So cool the zipper goes off to outside of foot just before achilles tendon.

I had the zippers put on the inside of the calf, so no pressure/flex point on the zipper at the ankle/heel area. Neither my daughter or I can feel the zippers at all, and we've never had a zipper failure of any kind like we did with the back zipper boots. We have Koenigs (sp?), and the zippers were put in by someone down in (I think) LA.

Casas De Las Botas (http://www.casadelasbotas.com.ar/?idioma=2) makes a couple different styles where the zipper curves around to the outside of the boot before it comes to the bottom of the leg.

Are you thinking of the DeNiro Leuca boot?

Tuff rider makes (made?) a canvas topped field boot where the zipper went down the back then curved to the inside at the foot. Mine have held up perfectly and don't have the visible zipper. I think I got them at Smart Pak, but don't see them now.
