View Full Version : Solar Arena Lights?

My previous incarnation of solar ring lights have decided to die on me, thus, I'm looking for other options.

It's not my property nor my electric bill, so I don't want to have proper lights installed. I'm also on a budget.

What I need is something that makes it so I can see, just a little, to ride at night. I'm not going to be jumping or anything, I'd just like to be able to see where the fence is and each end of the ring. It does not need to resemble daylight whatsoever.

Any suggestions for solar lights? I found some that stick onto fence posts that might work, but I'd love to hear if anyone else has tried this.

If you can deal with just faint illumination then try costco, they have solar lights that I use on my barns. I think that each one provide 12+ hours of light with 5-6 hrs, of sun exposure. I use them to brighten up the aisleways of my barn all night and I love the fact that it is free ! They cost about $35 per light, super easy installation but you will probably need several .

I got this floodlight (the top one) and it is very bright. It does the trick from ground, but I'm going to buy a telescoping pole to put it on. Just the one is enough for my 70 by 130 arena. It's actually a little too bright, but I'm happy with it.

oooh, Gilbert... I think that's going on my Xmas list! My arena is about the same size as yours and that seems really reasonable if I'd only need one light. I could run electricity but I don't ride consistently enough at home in the winter to justify the thousands it'd cost to put real arena lights in. Something like that sounds great for occasional use.

I don't know if it was here or on another board but someone had pics of an arena lined on the outside with tiki torches-- now THAT was an interesting approach to "lights"!

The top one says it's equivalent to 75 watts -- that's enough to light the whole arena??

Thanks for the link, I'm looking for solar lighting for a new pole barn, and these look great!

It's bright enough for me to see the fence all the way around, which is enough for me.

OP, what about these? http://www.amazon.com/Solar-50-String-Garden-Outside/dp/B002AYSJSO

They'd be great to put on the fence!

I was thinking rope lights would be great if you just wanna be able to see the fence and googled "solar rope lights" and these popped up, figured I'd share. Let us know what you end up getting.

I wonder if I could combine these:

with these

and that might do it? Has anyone tried either?
