I'm looking to minimize padding/bulk under the saddle...

Is there any company that makes a fitted pad that is quilted with a (synthetic) fleece edge only? I strongly prefer white fleece.

Dover's Wither Back Companion pad ( http://www.doversaddlery.com/product.asp?pn=X1-1922&ids=767715772 ) is close, but has fleece under the leg, and the Medallion Super Quilt Close Contact pad ( http://cgi.ebay.com/Toklat-White-Quilt-Close-Contact-Saddle-Pad-Good-Cond_W0QQitemZ260670893896QQcategoryZ16245QQcmdZVi ewItemQQ_trksidZp3286.m7QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DLVI%26i tu%3DUCI%26otn%3D2%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D 5292871145802215295 ) is also close, but has fleece under the seat.

Try option #22 from this page:

I have two of these - they say there is foam in the center - but I don't see it in the ones I have. Mine are like baby pads (quilted cotton center area, on both sides) with the white fleece roll around the edges.

Might be worth giving them a call - in case they discontinued the ones I have that have NO foam. They have a toll free number - I would bet even if the new ones have foam, they could make you one without it.

Good luck!

This is Toklat's Medallion Super-Quilt Roled Edge pad, the fleece is only on the edges. The website picture is not very clear, its hard to distinguish that the fleece is only trimming, much better detail in the catalog.

All of the ones of these that I own and the ones that are used at our barn are equally as thick on the edges as elsewhere on the pad. I believe they are using the term 'rolled' because the fleece top rolls underneath.

I have the Wilkers pad that is mentioned above, and it's perfect. Just like a regular quilted pad under the saddle, with the fleece only around the edge. You local tack store can probably order it for you if you can't find one online. The Toklat Medallion rolled edge pad also only has fleece on the edge - I don't own one but I've seen them.
