View Full Version : More saddle fitting questions... those who have a clue, please help me out!

I'm still working on trying to find the right saddle for my TB, some withers and a relatively long flat back. The saddle fitter had recommended the Bates so I took one on trial. The Caprilli apparently created gapping under the cantle, but the Elevation, which this saddle is, is supposed to be more broad across the back.

Saddle fitter had recommended girthing up with no pad to check fit. What I'm hoping is that, since I am ever eternally clueless when it comes to this, that people could give me an opinion offhand as to whether or not this is TOTALLY WRONG and NEEDS TO GO AWAY or if it looks like it might fit. Either way, it's easily returnable, and if I buy it, the saddle fitter will be back out to tweak.

That saddle is girthed down in those photos? If so, it looks too narrow to me. Maybe things are distorted, but it looks like there's three to four fingers over the withers.

you need to post a side on view of horse saddled so that we can see front to back balance.

The one you have on him now is too narrow.
