I'm looking for a pair of inexpensive schooling-type breeches. Does anyone know of any good prices out there right now? These will be for use at home mostly. Not for showing.

Thanks in advance.

Go to a local consignment shop, I am sure they will have some breeches in your size and price range.

www.tackwholesale.com is EXCELLENT.

I get stuff where I can't believe the quality for the price.
($20 leather halters with nice hardware??!)

Shipping is prompt and service is excellent.

Keep checking the site, their inventory comes and goes.

I don't know what brands you are interested in, but State Line Tack has some Devon-Aire and TuffRider breeches for around $30-50. Also, VTO makes a nice knee patch breech for $37.95.

I'm thinking of trying any of these...

I do have a pair of these, but they're too big now. The only thing I don't like about them is the inseam is long for me. But I'm a shorty-short.

Tuffrider breeches are great for everyday use - they hold up very well. I have a couple pair of their low rise and they fit nice too. And you can't beat the price - under $50!

Thanks, all. Yeah, I'm in a losing-weight cycle right now, so don't want to spend too much on breeches I'm hoping will not fit soon! haha. I have plenty of smaller sized breeches that I hope WILL fit soon.

I did check out the Horselovers sale last night, and didn't find any in my size for the 15.00. Almost everything has sold out, and I can understand why. Great prices!

I have those TuffRider ribbed breeches. They are awesome. Comfortable, inexpensive, go through the washer AND dryer, and have held up! I would recommend them to anyone for schooling. IIRC, I paid like $35 for mine.

Ditto on Alicat.

I have a pair of Tuff Rider's (ribbed) that I've had for 5 years (yes 5). Washed, dried, fallen in the mud, has a hole from me getting snagged on a nail, they wont die!! They are too big for me now as I've lost weight, but I did grab a black pair at Dover in a smaller size and I love em! They are slippery on a leather saddle, but I school in a Wintec and stick well.

another vote for the Tuff Rider breeches. They have held up like iron, unlike some of my other pairs. And even with some weight loss (and *ahem* gain) they still fit since they're so stretchy. But not in a hug your every bulge way, they're actually very forgiving and flattering.

Another GREAT thing about them

Do the Tuffriders fit fairly true to waist measurements? I'm smaller in the waist and bigger in the hips. :)

I wear a 31 in jeans. I wear a 30 in Tuffriders, they have a lot of give in them.

I've just bought 4 pair for my daughter on tackoftheday.com today. These are really nice and I'm going to let her use them to also show in. Great price!

I ordered a pair, as well. For the price, you can't go wrong. Thanks for the tips, everyone.

I'm also going to look for a pair of Tuffriders.
