I haven't seen a Grand Prix since Devon several years ago, so planning to attend the New Albany Classic on Sunday afternoon.
Anyone else going to be there?

I'm trying to get organized to go this year.

We used to be pretty good. Two years in a row my mom would come down to Columbus from Toledo, maybe with an office friend, and meet me and my sister. Then the group of us would go eat the night before, go the GP, and mom and friend would drive home.

Now mother has the Susan G walk in Toledo that Sunday, and can't come down. But I'm trying, I remember how much fun it was :)

I'll be there! Very excited. We'll just be out amongst the normal people ;)

The ride list is fantastic... Can't wait! 3rd year in a row I'm going.

bummer!!

No, its quite hard to get VIP tickets, its basically you have to know someone involved/one of the sponsors to get tickets!

Kent won

Norman Dello Joio was 2nd

Margie and Indigo were 3rd

Charlie and Athena were 4th.

TOUGH course, footing was not great...the grass just peeled up way too easily...i know a few riders werent happy with the footing.
Big triple bar to a TIGHT 6 (or was it a 5...i forget) stride to a vertical. LOTS of rails went flying there.
A of the triple combo was a triple bar, which causes some issues too!

and the last line was an oxer, short 6 or long 5 to a SHORT 2 (vertical oxer) (again more rails went flying here) to a bending 5-7 to the last fence. Lot of riders had lots of rails. but it was a tricky course and the footing wasnt helpful.

great class though.

I thought the worst line was the blue triple bar to the insanely tall vertical to the oxer... I believe it rode a 4 to a 5, but some people varied that to see what worked. Most had the vert and oxer down. Very tricky course as bhrunner said. :) Shocking that neither Beezie nor McLain went clear.

The adorable mare Athena (http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs319.ash2/59939_443079818765_513808765_5115438_965314_n.jpg)

McLain (http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs322.ash2/60233_443082633765_513808765_5115497_351554_n.jpg) over the triple bar

Georgina (http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs709.snc4/62967_443093163765_513808765_5115845_5805420_n.jpg ) had her face painted (All of my pictures were quite unflattering... :/)

Margie (http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs349.ash2/62967_443093178765_513808765_5115848_7272697_n.jpg ) over the A portion of the triple combo

Beezie (http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs318.ash2/59804_443098178765_513808765_5116012_819803_n.jpg) was happy with her ride, apparently! :)

Jump off:
Athena (http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs618.snc4/59804_443098213765_513808765_5116018_609923_n.jpg) says oh, you raised these? That's okay!

Up Chiqui (http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs638.snc4/59804_443098243765_513808765_5116024_7732935_n.jpg ) was super cute

The riders (http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs638.snc4/59804_443098248765_513808765_5116025_5569392_n.jpg ) observing

Margie (http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs638.snc4/59804_443098278765_513808765_5116031_8282065_n.jpg ) & Indigo - They raised this vertical quite a bit!

It was a great time, although you could tell the footing wasn't great... and that Abercrombie double-horse vertical following the blue spread was a b*tch! It was on the other end of the course from where I was sitting so I couldn't really see the problem up close but it looked like an awkward distance.

One thing I noticed, though, when Kent Farrington walked by me for the winner's procession, was that he was wearing half chaps rather than tall boots like the other riders - is this accepted in the jumper ring? I do mostly hunters so my impression may be only based on what's excepted in the hunter ring, but I was still pretty surprised!

The line was set on a half stride! and after the bold jump at the triple bar, it was tough to get the horses back for that vertical. Caused lots of problems!!

yes that is accepted in the jumper ring. I have seen it quite a bit!
