So my new horse has some neat racing connections. . .found out she was trained for the majority of her career by Barclay Tagg and may have even shared the stable for a brief time with Funny Cide! In addition, her sire is Royal Academy, who won the 1990 Breeder's Cup mile with none other than Lestor Piggot aboard, who came out of retirement to take the ride. As a racing fan, thought this was pretty cool!

Hoping she will be an eventing partner for me, but it's a long shot, since I bought her at auction and have yet to lay eyes on her (in qt). Just had to to take her though when I saw her pics. No matter what she'll get a happy home.

Not saying the OPs horse isn't nice, she sound wonderful!

My horse was a Darley horse bred by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. His sire won the KY Derby in 2000 and his dam was a multiple grade 1 stakes winner.

Juice was a dud !

It is fun to research their past though!!

Definitely post her name. If she was ever in the Fair Hill string I might know where to find some pics of her galloping.

Depends on when though.

I had a horse whose claim to fame was being the work partner of Afleet Alex. Its so freaking cute to see him now. He was bought by a DEAD beginner. He trots so slow it would put western pleasure horses to shame. He has plenty of go but is more than willing to wait for his owner who adores him to be ready for that.

Her name is Daring Dreamer. She was primarily a turf horse and raced at Aqueduct, Belmont, Saratoga & Tampa Bay from "07 to '09.

Here's a link to her picture album, http://pets.webshots.com/album/578092057GXSkRD.

PS: A lot of Tagg's gallop in draw reins. Pretty standard equipment for them.

Awww, Big Truck is on there! Such a sweet colt in the stall, always one of my favorites to work around. I was sorry to see the news earlier this spring that he was euthanized :(.

... sorry for the stray off-topic.

OP, that's always fun when you're learning about their history! She looks like a nice mare.

She looks lovely...have fun with her!

You should see if you can find some videos of her running.

Funny, this thread made me google my newest guy and I found three of his races on YouTube. He's a decently bred race horse...but with over 20 starts...didn't win much....and the videos show he wasn't much of a race horse:lol: but he is turning into a lovely event horse and I'm having a ton of fun with him.

For kicks...here is one of his races. His name is Loveton...#2 horse in this race.

Sorry for the OT....it is just funny what you can find out about your horses with something as simple as a google search.

I don't do this often but I am gonna do it today.

This is a link to the pics of the horses needing help from the auction where Daring Dreamer came from, same day.

DD was #336

Just look at those 2 pics that she was bought off of. (Unless Sara's pics were all you saw OP.)

Its amazing to me that she found a home.

Kudos to you Tux!!!

First, thank you so much Emily for that link!! I have watched all 16 of her races on Equibase, geeky, I know. Next time I'll know that I can get them free.

As far as buying her off less than ideal pics. . .as a lifelong TB fan, I have tried to help where and how I can; have done some transporting for CANTER, small donations when possible, but I really wanted to provide a landing place for a TB in need. Did it once last winter, had a stall available to me again, so I started keeping an eye out. Saw the first pics and description of Dreamer and started thinking about it. The Sarah Andrew pictures just sealed the deal for me (just as she planned, I would imagine!). Perhaps, I thought, she could get home and I could get an eventer. Only time will tell.

As way of an update, I contacted Barclay Tagg Racing and got a very nice email back filling in some details for me and wishing good luck with her. Feeling kind of star struck.
