Any thoughts on horses coming back to being succesful event horses?

My first event horse had pedal osteitis coming off the track, was rehabbed at Rochester Equine in NH (IIRC) by her previous owner (I have no idea how bad it was, though) and never had any soundness issues. Mental issues, yes.....

Reno, more info please. Is the horse unsound? Pedal osteitis is a finding on x-rays but not necessarily a diagnosis unless the horse is exhibiting symptoms. I had an OTTB that showed evidence of PO on x-rays, but he was sound and the vet was not concerned about him having an eventing career.

I remember with great dread a LONG horse search that found 4 different potential horses to buy. All had PO on radiographs and we passed on them at our vets syggestion. (This was in the mid 90's so technology was not what it is today)

Sorry not much advice to offer. Just know that this disease was a big NO for us.

I thought PO was acute? No?

You might be ok if you have a VERY GOOD farrier.
