Does anyone know of any CTs, Jumper or dressage shows near NoVA/Maryland this July? I've found a few, but want to make sure I haven't missed anything. Thanks!

Check the cdcta website - the mdcta website - and The Equierry's event list. Between those three there is EVERYTHING listed. The MCTA's google calendar is the best.

Hi Technopony!

The Maryland Horse Trials has a few shows this year that might be of interest to you:

Aug. 21 Unrecognized Horse Trials
Sept. 12 Short Course 1
Oct. 17 Unrecognized Horse Trials
Oct. 31 Short Course 2
Nov. 14 Short Course 3

You'll have to let me know if you attend any of them, as I'm always there volunteering. :D

How about jumper shows? I'm looking for something between Warrenton and Middleburg. I know Overlook Farm has a series, but it's a hike for me. I'd be willing to go that far if I could do 2 or 3 three classes in a day.

Go to http://cdcta.com and look at the calendar. CDCTA just held a CT this weekend at Compass Rose Farm. However, the calendar also lists a variety of schooling shows -- dressage, CTs and unrecognized HT that are part of CDCTA's recognition program for year end points.

Also check the Area II web site.

And for jumper stuff, check the VHSA web site (and the MD equivalent).

Thanks for all the info and ideas. I'm sure I can find something good. Does anyone know if Waredaca uses the same stadium jumps for the schooling shows as they do for the events? I had a mishap there last year so it might be worth braving rush hour on 270 to school :)

I think Waredaca uses the same stadium jumps as the recognized events and they use the same ring. Braving rush hour on 270 is much more intimidating than that!

JUly 10th is a schooling jumper show SMHA at PGEC, course designed by an event rider, cheap entry fees, informal dress, friendly management - check it out !

I think that Banbury Cross outside of Middleburg started up Tuesday jumper schooling shows again. Nice facility, low key and an overall good time from what I've heard.

I've sworn off eventing in July due to pony soundness issues when the footing emulates concrete...so I'm planning to spend July in the jumper ring instead...and thus have done some research on schooling jumper stuff in the greater Baltimore area.

Here's what I've found so far:

wed 6/30 - Tranquility Manor Jumpers (to 3'), Monkton MD
Thurs 7/1 - Pleasant Prospect Jumpers (to 3'6", I think) Brookeville, MD
Sat 6/3 - Iron Bridge Pony Club Jumpers (to 3'6"), Silver Spring MD
Thurs 7/8 - Pleasant Prospect Jumpers (to 3'6", I think) Brookeville, MD
Sat 7/10 - Swan Lake Jumpers (to 3'3"), Littlestown, PA
Sun 7/11 - HCHSA Jumpers (to 3'6") at Oatlands
Wed 7/14 - Schooling night at Waredaca
Thurs 7/15 - Pleasant Prospect Jumeprs (to 3'6", I think) Brookeville, MD
Sat 7/17 - Black-Eyed Susan Jumpers at PGEC (to 3'9") Upper Marlboro, MD
Sun 7/18 - Black-Eyed Susan Jumpers at PGEC (to 3'9") Upper Marlboro, MD
Thurs 7/22 - Pleasant Prospect Jumpers (to 3'6", I think) Brookeville, MD
Sat 7/24 - HCHSA Jumpers (to 3'6") at Pickwick, Sykesville, MD
Sat 7/24 - Iron Bridge Pony Club Jumpers (to 3'6"), Silver Spring MD
Wed 7/28 - wed 6/30 - Tranquility Manor Jumpers (to 3'), Monkton MD

Hope that's helpful!
