I just bought a place with about 6 acres of grass pasture near Monroe, NC. The pasture grass is very tall (at least a couple feet) and has not been cut or fertalized for at least a year. But it looks like nice grass and is pretty weed free. I'm planning on having the grass and soil analyzed so I will know what to fertalize with, but what do I do with the grass that is there? Have it cut and baled? If so would it be suitable as a filler type feed for horses or is it better to roll it up as round bales for cow hay? Pasture management is new to me so any advice would be helpful. Thanks!
