Just thought I'd share about my great weekend at the Meadowcreek Park Summer Games!

I took my mare Fancy (http://www.photoreflect.com/store/Orderpage.aspx?pi=043T009E010031&po=31&pc=41) (Capital Kiss) out for her first Training horse trial, and she was awesome (especially considering that we've only ever done 5 HT's before). Since it was a schooling show, we were able to do a bit of XC schooling on Friday, which was a blast!

Then there were some schooling jumper (http://www.photoreflect.com/store/Orderpage.aspx?pi=043T009E010005&po=5&pc=41) classes Saturday morning, so we did a Training level course to settle my nerves!

She really rocked all three phases of the horse trial, finishing just off her dressage score (40, which I thought was respectable for her first Training test under a tough judge) with just one rail in stadium. The cross country was amazing. Even though it was a schooling show, they kept the same course from the T3D a few weeks ago, so it was no slouch. I had to really hold her back, and with no watch we came in 6 seconds under optimum. We technically finished in first place, but we were HC.

Meanwhile, I had my awesome pony doing the Green as Grass division. It was her second horse trial after a good "learning experience" last fall at Corona del Sol. She schooled some nice dressage on Friday night, but we kind of blew it in our test Saturday and scored a 48 (after an error penalty). She was much bolder (http://www.photoreflect.com/store/Orderpage.aspx?pi=043T009E0Y0004&po=4&pc=16) than expected on cross country Sunday, jumping me out of the tack on a few of the tiny logs (http://www.photoreflect.com/store/Orderpage.aspx?pi=043T009E0Y0000&po=0&pc=16). She normally gets bored with crossrails, but she was happy (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=64707718&id=8300250#!/photo.php?pid=64710486&id=8300250&fbid=10100300845544994) and her stadium round (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=64707718&id=8300250#!/photo.php?pid=64710481&id=8300250)was flawless, to finish on her dressage score. We technically finished tied for second, and I don't know how they did the tie-breaker (we were much closer to optimum) but they called us up for third place (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=64707718&id=8300250#!/photo.php?pid=64710491&id=8300250&fbid=10100300845574934). That's ok, because I'm soooo proud of my little girl and she had a TON of fun!

Of course, I probably can't keep taking both to shows. Their separation anxiety gets a million times worse, and Fancy demolished a stall trying to get out and follow her pony to the dressage ring. Whoops! Sorry to anyone who may have stabled in the South barn.... Hopefully all the squealing didn't leave you deaf!

And of course, thank to Sam and Jodye for another awesome show!

OK, apparently all of my Jim Stoner links went to the same picture... I'll try to fix that!

All of the pictures are great, but the one of you and Fancy cantering in the dressage test is stunning!

Yup, that's the free pony!

And thanks, ponyxjd! Shall I admit that we got a 4 on that movement? I was trying to balance her and we broke for a half stride. :(

I love both of them but I am really a huge pony lover. Then I found out this was the free pony. You lucky girl. Adorable!

My one guy was HORRID when I first started taking his buddy to shows too. What I did was have a friend stay with him whenever I had to ride the buddy. After awhile, he learned that his friend was coming back and so he chilled out and now isn't a problem at all at shows.
