They were trying to get as many people out across the nation to produce a world record. I rode in the Livingston Manor, NY one.

I rode in the one in Fall City, WA. I have my certificate on my cubicle wall saying we did set a new record.

I did the one in Homestead (South Fla). We had around 55 riders. A monsoon hit just as we finished saddling and we got soaked! It was too hot to put raincoats on... It rained for about the first 30 minutes of the ride which was a good thing as it kept it much cooler and overcast.
Then about halfway through the sun came out and it became the "Bataan Death March!" 91 degrees and 100% humidty. The horses were all breathing hard (walking only) and we had to keep pouring water on their necks to cool them off... It was a tough ride and afterwards, no shade. I opened up my awning and tied my horse under it so he would have shade.
I enjoyed it, but NEVER again in South Fla in the summer - too hard on the horses.

I wanted to, but was busy doing something else. Would have been fun! I would have done the one in Glen Arm, MD.
