In the 22 years I have been showing, I have never known the answer to this question-as it has never pertained to anything I was doing.

I know that boots/wraps are legal, but are bell boots?

I don't believe they are. I've never seen bell boots in the ring. I have seen a couple times those quarter boots that cover the bulb of the foot but haven't seen them very often.

Legal, but distracting. Only use if truly necessary. . .

wraps, boots, and bell boots are all o.k. in the eq. and medals. The class is judged on the rider. The reason that they are not allowed in hunters is that one of the things that the horses are judged on is soundness... Occassionally they will allow bell boots in hunters if the footing is really sloppy.
