First off let me say... You need to change your screen name to "OTTBenabler"

Secondly, I wish I was closer to the first horse! Very cute indeed!

There are so many nice Canter horses! I love Mr.Ned!

Does anybody know if there are any OTTB rescues/placement organizations similar to Canter up in Canada? I've looked and looked but can never find anything. I'd love to get another OTTB eventually.

Some that I like:

Purty Bay Mare (http://www.canterusa.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2030:stunning-8-yo-bay-mare&catid=49:charlestown-trainer-listings&directory=282) I don't know why I like the older ones. heh.

The Brahms daughter (http://www.canterusa.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2038:minnie&catid=48:ma-canter-available-now&directory=313)I referred to above. (not that I'm biased or anything, but seriously? This horse is GREAT. Great mind, beautiful, just awesome).

3 YO and Unraced (http://www.canterusa.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2116:rebounding-3-yo-bay-filly&catid=52:laurel-bowie-pimlico-trainer-listings&directory=285)

Heh. Some of our WV trainers have had horses sold as far away as Texas and Colorado.

Just saying. heheheheheheh I mean, I'm not trying to enable or anything, I would never.... ;)

I bought my OTTB out of Charlestown, WV and i am from CT. The trainer was very willing to work with us and offered to trailer the horse to a nearby vet of our choice to be vetted. We did, he passed with flying colors...and we drove down and back in one day to get him.

I am also within reasonable driving distance of Mr. Ned.....unfortunately i need to sell my warmblood gelding who i found last august before i drag in another project....i am out of stalls!!

I agree that i am a bit of an OTTB-Enabler! I think they're great horses, and with a few weeks of downtime...it makes a world of difference for these guys. they really are a lot of fun!!!

Hoping someone here can snatch up Mr. Ned. he is STUNNING!!!

Would become a jumper in my barn :D

I made the mistake of telling DBF about some of the ones on there that I like, including their prices. He is becoming more of an enabler than Farmgirl. I swear, if I end up with one more ch tb mare I'm going to kill both him and the OP!

Hey, I live in MI, bought a horse from NY. Sight unseen, no less.

However...I will not buy Ring The Realm...I will not buy Ring The Realm...I will not buy Ring the Realm....(unlesshegoesunsoldawhileandtakesabigpric edrop.)

I mean, if he did I'd be silly not to, right?

No, you do need an OTTB — they are so wonderfully forward and will teach you to ride with a light touch! Soooo much more fun that kicking a WB all around the ring.

That mare is really lovely - she has a great shoulder! I like the older ones too. They are often wiser and more confident ;)

And that gelding is quite handsome.

Because everyone would rather spend $40K on a "made" WB than $2K on a OTTB that needs six months of training? Not that there's anything wrong with that, because it means more OTTBs for poor people like myself. ;)

I have a secret dream of becoming a good enough hunter rider to be able to get an OTTB....right now Im still learning to go over 2 ft fences :o without getting left behind/leaning at it/not releasing :o I changed from western to English this past December after a 4 yr break from riding, theres a LOT to learn:yes:

For now I will window shop and drool:cool:

Mr. Ned is gorgeous but at $2499. pricey for an on the [/I[I]]track soon to be OTTB and 5 and 16H barely for the photo's.

Pricey compared to 4yr olds for $1K???

For a resaler age is an impact as well as price.

For a "Keeper" he is PREFECT
