COTHers unite! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I'd love to meet anyone else who is going. My mom and I will be attending on Saturday. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Our trip is a bit last minute, but I'm really looking forward to it!

We'll be staying at the Downtown Hilton and attending the awards luncheon and the other events on Saturday. http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/yes.gif

Shall we plan a COTH rendezvous?

I will be running the Affiliates session at "0 dark 30" on Friday morning, and will be the "room monitor" for one of the dressage test reviews.

KellyS -- This is so funny, but I had a dream about 2 weeks ago that I met you and we were shopping for something. I can't remember what, but we kept looking at something and deliberating, and making all these really serious and sound judgements about it. It was so bizarre, because I haven't met you and I don't know what you look like, so I don't know "who" that was in my dream, but it was definitely supposed to be you! It'll be fun to meet you and others, in person, since I spend so much "time" with you guys that you're now pervading my sleep! I'll have to look at the schedule again for Saturday, but I know that I'll absolutely be at the party Saturday night, so if nothing else, we could all meet up then.

OK - I looked on the website and they have a Starbucks or two bar/ lounges onsight were we could meet. I would suggest we meet before both the Fri night and Sat night parties (say 30mins) before they start...that way if you will miss one, you could come to the other.

If I get a chance I will pick up some horsie stickers for our name badges that way it will be easy to spot fellow Coths

sub when: for us to decide
WHY: so we all can meet!

But, alas, I promised Mr. Bensmom that if Mr. Sam, the incredible vibrating horse, came to live with us, I'd not go anywhere else this fall that cost $. Annika, I should recognize you again if I see you! And, Flightcheck, you are not shy! I was shaking in my paddock boots when I stopped in to the office to introduce myself to you at the June Poplar, so do not be reluctant to be out-and-about at the convention!

I second the idea of the "smurf" stickers on our name badges, but only if they're the "puffy" Smurf stickers I used to collect as a kid! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Seriously, we need to pick a time and a place or other means of contact. Okay- here I am back in rainy, cold MI and I have a few more ideas.

Lets do a 5ish meeting on Thursday, and lets meet at the trade fair entrance. I don't think that there there will be a lot of us on Thursday. I will wear a baseball cap- just so we can actually find each other.

Then a noon meeting on Friday that the Thursday folks will figure out because we can scout out the place. Hopefully someone will have access to a computer to post (I will not) where. If not, a note at the USEA booth sounds great.

and here is the final thought- everyone bring a few pictures of their horse/s. Eventing ones are great, but anything so we can attach a face to the name (horses at least- since the riders will finally be meeting!)

And then, I really REALLY want a group photo. Really REALLY badly! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I got a great sticker/name tag idea from Cody- one that has a smurf on it and one with a jumping horse. It has COTH on the top (In blue of course) and our BB name below- with either the smurf or the horse on the side . I bet we could get a few printed off of those for those we know are coming, and then a few blank ones for the shy ones. So, Cody, whatcha think?

And I will be dancing.... mtinder says she will be too....

Nov. 28, 2005, 05:03 PM
as someone who has never been to the convention, I am dithering over packing.

Arriving Thursday early am, and leaving Sun Am...I am NOT planning to set foot outside the Marriott (except maybe the pub crawl) due to the brisk weather...what to wear?

And, how IS the trade fair...should I be prepared to shop?

the amazing fetching cat landed right on my last post-

Prepare to dance!

and as far as the rest of it, comfortable, I should think. Somewhat nice if we pub crawl, and the evening cocktail get togethers- but the rest of it, I am hoping, is not too fancy.

The trade fair varies year to year. The silent auction is usually really fun!

So, I think the first thing I will be going to on Friday is the 12:15 session on designing show jumping courses (no, I'm not an event organizer, designer, or TD, BUT this is a topic I'm extremely interested in). Then, it looks like 2:00 is the "Understanding the Horse's Mind" session, which I also want to attend. I will be getting to town around 10:00ish and picking up Laddiepony at her place on the way to the Marriott. Is there a definite on the 11:00am coffee meeting? Will someone who is already on-site leave a message at the check-in/registration table for COTHers?

Also -- following up on what Flightcheck said about the CHILLY weather forecast and sticking to the hotel -- I am, personally, hoping that the pub "crawl" becomes a pub "park." It'll be too cold to go traipsing around downtown from establishment to establishment! Plus, the boots I want to wear are *definitely* not "made for walking"! Anyone else have any idea of how that's going to go down?

Cody
Nov. 29, 2005, 07:59 AM
Ok, everyone, I went back thru the thread and copied now the names of the people who said they are attending. I'll have badges made up for them with their names on them. And like Annikak said we'll have blanks for people who didn't post or see this.

I won't have access to a computer after Wednesday afternoon, but I'll bring the originals with me in case the hotel has a color copier.

I sat down this morning to take a close look at the schedule and figure out where I had to be and when. Every day from Thursday through Sunday, I have a meeting that starts at either 7:30 am or 8:00 am. Is someone trying to kill me? Do they not care how much this will impact my ability to partake in the evening festivities? All I can say is someone better have massive quantities of hot coffee on hand.

Steve and I are heading out early tomorrow morning with the hopes of arriving around lunch time. Steve has a pre-meeting meeting with a few members of a task force he's working on and I have to put together 50 gift bags for the first Board of Governors meeting.

I am going to try and make it to the COTH get-togethers, but I have to see what my work sched looks like. Blech.

Finally sat down today to plan Saturday...can't wait! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I'm shooting for:

7 am Adult Riders' Open Forum
8 am Designing Show Jumping Courses Part 2 or
9 am Equine Joint Disease
10:30 am Training Solutions from Top Event Riders
Noon USEA Awards Luncheon
2:30 pm USEA Annual Meeting
6 pm Saturday Evening Party

I think I'm leaning towards the show jumping session, only because it gives me an hour to investigate the trade fair (and I can hopefully tack another 1/2 hour at the end of the day). Too much to do, too little time! Oh, how I wish I had more vacation days to take. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'll most likely be wearing black dress pants and a pastel rainbow-colored ribbed turtleneck sweater. Shouldn't be too hard to miss!

Uhmmm, hello? The forecast isn't like arctic tundra or anything. I think the lows are in the 30's? That is totally do-able.

Does anyone remember the meeting in Cleveland a few years ago? (Freaking cold!)

Boston two years ago? (Mother of God cold!)

Charlotte will be cake.

"Boston two years ago? (Mother of God cold!)"

Maybe that's why I waited till the USEA convention came back south again....I just couldn't think of wandering around outside when it's "mother of god cold". There's not enough anti-freeze anywhere to keep me warm if it's that cold!

Bensmom
Nov. 30, 2005, 06:23 AM
Ok, so like the Boston meeting had a mall attached to the hotel so that you could shop without ever going outside. That was pretty nifty.

But, Robby is right. Mother of God cold it was! The bolting to the airport ahead of the incoming nor'easter on Sunday morning was impressive!

I hope you guys have a great time -- sounds as if it will be chilly enough to dig out the cute winter clothes those of us from Florida rarely get to wear, but not so cold as to be miserable. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Just confirmed I will be at the meeting as well. sounds funny since I work 1 block away from the Marriott.

Just for your bearings - you will be in 3 buildings - all butted against the other so it appears to be 1 building. This means you have access to several restaurants all within the same area.

Now several of you were looking for a meeting place, here is some info:
There are '2' Starbucks in the building. One is in the hotel shop with seating out front. This may be rather busy with the USEA folks & work folks and anyone visiting.
The second Starbucks is in the 'next' building Independance. Just past the guard station turn right & go past the elevators - there is a small Starbucks.
For a good meeting spot with plenty of room. Keep going straight past the guard station toward the "Just Fresh" restaurant - you are now in the Ivey Building, plenty of tables to meet. Better for breakfast or in the evening. This area is almost fully occupied during lunch by the local office workers.
Hope to meet all of you! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Good question, Colliemom! I was thinking of wearing my "evening" Brooks Brothers stretch denim jeans with a cranberry satin wrap top and my shirred black velvet city coat. Something dressy, but a little more "Lady Helen Taylor" than "Madonna." I didn't even think of a cocktail dress, or something more snazzy. Should I be planning more along the lines of "Carrie Bradshaw?"

persefne, that sounds really nice! I have a relatively simple burgundy velvet dress that is only full length because I'm too short for it and didn't have time to get it altered ... it IS sleeveless, though, so I'll be looking for a wrap/shawl while I'm down there.

I know of one couple who have been known to do the black dress and tuxedo thing and look very classy, I must say. Many others will be in some variation of biz casual. However, muck boots and jeans with actual horse goobers on them are considered a bit gauche.

I'm back, and I'm so happy to've met so many great COTH'ers.

I met the Area II Adult Rider's Divas at Thursday night's reception and they were awesome! Colliemom and Foy and so many others - it was great to meet you!

There are way too many other interactions to list, but it was wonderful to meet LaddiePony who is so precious, and Persefne who rocks the fashion house like whoa! Any girl who gets "Hello!" magazine is aces in my book and I cannot wait to visit with her again. (I'll make chicken salad for Middle Tennessee!)

I also got to meet Fooler, Annikak (who is so cute and asked the funniest question in the "ask the trainer" session Saturday morning!), as well as Jasmin (email me!).

It was great seeing Flightcheck again, meeting GotSpots finally! (after selling her a horse!) and having a beer and chips with Janet and my favorite ray of sunshine Jeanette (formerly ponygrl). Jeanette rocks!

I am happy to be home but hope to see everyone again very soon!

Annikak, aponyclubber -- you are such amazing girls! Lots of love and big hugs to you both. http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/yes.gif (I guess you got my note I left last night that I got my stuff out of your room before LP and I headed back home).

Tractor Queen -- you can come find me and talk about OTTBs anytime. I loved hearing about your experience and can't wait to hear much more in the future! And, Cody, thank you for the really cute "COTH" nametags. It was nice to meet you and chat on Friday night! Oskaar, you did a great job with the pub crawl. So much fun! Thanks!!!

KellyS, you are so sweet and I'm sorry that I didn't have more time to sit and talk with you about lots of things. You'll have to email me your notes from the show jumping session, and I'll do likewise! I hope you and your lovely mother had a really wonderful time!

Laddiepony, of course, is just the best friend ever! What a fabulous weekend we had and I'll look forward to many more fun times to come. We can fight over Francis Whittington anytime, anyday! I'm off, now, to watch the video of his Badminton dressage ride for the 5,000th time this weekend. http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/winkgrin.gif

The convention was GREAT, I met some amazing people (COTHers, especially), I learned a lot, and enjoyed the wonderful community that eventers bring with them everywhere. Well, everyone! Made me so very happy, and slightly misty eyed- to be part of the great group of eventers- and esp my COTH friends http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif suffice to say that.... I think quite a few of us RODE that bull! and, I am scared to think of what the pics show. I can say that I now think cheering for people in SJ might just be a really good thing- there was a lot of cheering going on, and the bull riding was interesting!

But WHO won the Pub Crawl??? Uh... I think that our team...oh yes, OUR team won! http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/yes.gif Bragging rights abound. Esp because I had NO idea what it was, and was having way too much fun. Dancing involves muscles that riding does not.... http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif and boy oh boy, did we dance! If Laddiepony decides that riding is not her career, then Dancing sure could be...that girl can move! And Persefne was great- and gets the award for dancing with her very nice shoes. You looked GREAT darlin'!

I did not think that Robby could live up to the hype, but fellow COTH'ers, he does. I was so pleased to meet you! And the photo of your boy was indeed precious! Its kinda sad the question was funny on Sat AM- I really wanted an answer-but not too sure if I liked their answers! I am sure you will meet her and see what I mean. If a horse has an unique personality, she sure does. Boy was she happy to see me tonight! http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif

I spent far too small of a time with Flightcheck, Tractorqueeen, Cody, (Your name badges were great, and that is how KellyS found me!) carovet- lots of us danced, but it truly seems as if time just flew!

I did not meet Janet *sad* nor colliemom, unless you were with Pam????

I will be posting notes, and whatever I can find. I did get to see some pics- Flightchecks new guy is really really cute! Persefne was super, too, and had great photos.

So, thanks all, for a great weekend!

What I Learned at the USEA Convention

1. Organizers must refund your stabling fee if they end up filling your stall, even if you withdraw after closing date.
2. Nobody wants the 3'9 show jumping rule to go into effect for Preliminary.
3. Kerrits has some really cool new breeches that are super sticky! LOFF THEM!
4. There is absolutely no meeting important enough to attend at 7:00am the morning after the pub crawl. (learned THAT the hard way)
5. Do not celebrate your 33rd birthday by trying to go drink for drink/shot for shot with a fellow 9 years your junior.

Robby, you are the coolest!!!!!! We definitely have to keep in touch. And next time, Holly and I are stealing you - I know you had fun http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif, but you MUST go out with US sometime!!

Holly...I'm gonna cry! I love you so much, girl!!!!! I've said it once and I'll say it again - thank you, just for being YOU!!!!!!! Anytime you're up at 3 a.m. watching Francis Whittington's Badminton dressage, you 1) better think of me, and 2) know you can call me, and I'll just imagine I'm watching it too. (By the way, Robby, get to work on getting him over here for a clinic!!! Otherwise, I'm totally calling him myself!!). http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Holly you better be careful posting those pictures of me on the bull - if you can see too much, you are in trouble!!!!!!! When I put that skirt on, I had NO IDEA I would end up riding a mechanical bull. Regardless, my goodness that was fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Though, poor Richard Jeffries will never, ever agree to be my date again!!!!!!!!). If we should ever be in a like situation, a certain unnamed Olympic medalist will NOT have the excuse of a pulled muscle, and he WILL ride it....you and I will make sure of it, right?!?!

Okay everyone, I'm off to say my thank-you prayers for being able to magically walk right into 4 bars on Friday night, past the people carding, and for getting into that bar last night with only, oh, 5 minutes of begging and pleading with the guy not to make me stand out in the cold all night. I don't know HOW I managed all of that.....ah, I *KNEW* going to Catholic school would pay off sometime!!!!!!!!

Much love to all,

-Kelsey

I'm so glad you guys had a good time at the meeting. With only nine weeks notice, Area II really had to scramble to get things together, but I think we managed to pull things off. We couldn't do everything that we wanted too, but I'm overjoyed to see that what we did get accomplished was well received. A special thanks goes to Jan Zwak and Cindy DePorter for going above and beyond the call of duty. Also thanks go to all of the Area II members who stepped up to the plate at the last minute and volunteered to help run the meeting.

The only thing that I was disappointed with was that I didn't get to meet so many of you. It was kind of hard since I was in meetings everyday from sun up to sun down. Oh well, maybe next year in St. Louis.

BTW, Robby darling, you never came by on Sunday to say goodbye. Please send my your shipping address because I have something for you.

Wait, there were so many people I didn't meet. Wahhhhh!

Laddiepony definitely won the award for best 17 year old to sneak into ALL the bars in Charlotte, especially when the 19 yr old with a fake couldn't get in. The girl's got talents.

I did fairly well in the raffle, winning a large tub of Mrs. Pastures for the pony and a lovely wooden box filled with Dark Horse Chocolates. Yum! My mom won a nice green wool cooler and THE SADDLE!

My favorite moment of the weekend was my aunt saying "Do I need to pay that old man back for the drink he bought me?" after Capt. Phillips bought her a glass of wine. Well, that and pretty much everything else that happened.

I did get to meet a lot of the lovely area II ladies, and of course persefene, laddiepony, and annikak. I never found cody to get the other half of my COTH badge, so I only had the holder, and not the nametag http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

And of course, Robby, I heart you so much (I'm smiling without moving my face--no reaction!).

How about a recap of the rules meeting? Does it look like the prelim stadium height will increase? What else was discussed?

Robby Johnson
Dec. 5, 2005, 07:11 AM
My impression of the prelim rule was that most felt it up to the competitor to prepare for 3'9" fences at other venues and to keep it at the FEI level (CIC or CCI) to "make it more special" and leave regular prelim horse trials alone.

p.s. oskaar, I love you!

Laddiepony, see I told you Friday night, just stroll in to those bars like you do it all the time. And yep I was thinking of you especially when we got to the 2nd one and they were carding.
Oskaar, the 2nd 1/2 of the badge, I gave (dumped) them all on annikak since I figured she would find every one of us. Unlike me.
St. Louis, now I have a whole year to plan tags for us instead of a weekend. And this time I'll be happy to email them to everyone so we'll be able to wear them instantly.

And Canterlope is not kidding about being in meetings from sun up til sun down. Those meetings put a serious crimp in that girls fun time!

And to top of the great weekend, we actually got on a direct flight home instead of a connection flight, so were HOME earlier than we would have been taking off from D.C. Of course, the luggage didn't make it but they're delivering it today. Nice treat to get home earlier than expected, though.

abrownhorse enjoyed herself soooooo sooooo much Friday night that Saturday night was very quiet, mostly alchol free and no where near the vicinity of the mechanical bull.

Finally checking in!

It was so great to meet all of you - Colliemom, Janet, Persefne (I wish we'd had more time to catch up!), Robby, and Annikak. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif My mom and I had such a great time - I've slowly gotten my mom into eventing over the past two years and she adores the sport. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif She says that the eventing people are the nicest group of horse people she's ever met and that's saying a lot as I've competed in quite a few disciplines before coming to eventing. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I caught the tail end of the Adult Riders forum on Saturday morning. Did I miss anything important that was discussed before 7:30?

The show jumping session by Richard Jeffries was very interesting, but even two hours was not enough time to discuss everything. The biggest "take home" point was that safety is the key word when designing courses. Don't try to be too clever or tricky, especially at the lower levels. Distances for 1 and 2 stride combos need to take into account the types of fences - oxers and veticals have different take off and landing spots and an oxer to oxer one stide will ride longer than a vertical to vertical combo set at the same distance. Oxer to oxer combos (1 and 2 stride) should be used at the Prelim level and higher, not at Novice and Training. He had ranges for distances at the Prelim level and above, but I'm desperately searching for my notes on these and can't find them. http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/sigh.gif He is definitely a proponent of safety cups and feels that they save you money in the long run (especially when you consider the legal implications on not using them).

The training solutions session was hosted by Karen O'Connor, Stephen Bradley, Buck Davidson, Jan Thompson, and Richard Green. Other posters have captured most of this already, but I really liked the point Karen made that you are "training" your horse whenever you are handling him. I've always believed this, and I see too many people who have training issues under saddle because they've never gained respect from their horse on the ground. Buck's response (both facial and verbal) to Annikak's question about Babamist horses was priceless! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The awards luncheon was lovely (food was really good!) and we sat with some new friends I made at the convention and the owners of Holly Hill Farm. It was so much fun to tell them that I knew they ran a great event due to Robby's wonderful event report on here. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I felt very honored to be awarded one of the scholarships - but all the credit goes to my horse - his story and the confidence he's given me are the reason I was able to write such a wonderful essay. http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/yes.gif

The actual annual meeting was interesting and you can see how dedicated the USEA officals are to the organization. Janie Atkinson (I hope I spelled that right!) announced that if she can get the prize money raised, she is going to offer a World Event Championship (long format) at the 2007 Rolex event. So exciting!!!

My mom and I were a little late to the Saturday night party - we were staying a few blocks away and didn't realize the skywalk (that we used earlier) would be locked up halfway there. We got a little lost on the street before finally finding our way there. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif I thought it was kind of tame, but it sounds like everyone got their "wildness" out on the pub crawl the night before. http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/winkgrin.gif We continued to meet new people and I was so pleased to see someone I went to college with! He has been building courses and the last time I saw him was at the AECs. I went to a "horsey" college and it is always fun to see where everyone ended up.

All in all, a great experience!

Robby! I was so thrilled to finally meet you and wish I could have talked to you at length! "Louie" would just love you though!

All I have to say is that pub crawl was almost the death of me. I think I should get the award for drinking the most (because I drank that Nutrena guy under the table) and still making it to the Adult Rider meeting at the ungodful 7:00 AM. Well, actually I rolled out of bed at 6:59 and stumbled into the elevator by 7:09. DC was nice enough to call me out. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif And ya'll thought I wouldn't be there! Wooo! We were sadly mistaken.

Ah, thanks Libby. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I'll share the story here (kind of feel funny starting a thread just for it).

In somewhat of a nutshell, a few years ago I was eventing a very nice mare - we were doing very well at Novice and a lot of people were pressuring me to move up to Training. However, only I knew how hard I worked to make our cross country look effortless - she was a brilliant show jumper and lovely dressage mount, but she questioned every xc fence we jumped. She had an excellent sense of self preservation for herself and also an uncanny way of putting me in very bad situations when she choose to. After a particularly harrowing experience at our first Training event, I totally lost my nerve and didn't think I would ever return to eventing.

A few months later, my husband's former event horse was returned to us after his lease ended. He had basically been retired and the leasee had been using him for weekend trail rides until she could find a horse of her own. When horses are in your blood, it is hard to stay away from riding for long, and soon Traveler and I were hacking through the winter countryside and I discovered the true joy of riding again.

We are both very opinionated, but we found a connection - I was looking for a horse to trust and he was so happy to have a purpose in life. I started taking dressage lessons on him and found that he (at 19) was as spry as a horse half his age. Then I tried a jumping lesson. It was wonderful - I didn't realize how much I'd missed it until I was doing it again.

We finally made it to our first event after a year together and I've never been so terrified in my life - those Novice fences looked Olympic-size! But as soon as we were on course, it was like we'd been doing it together forever.

As they say, the rest is history. I've had so many wonderful experiences with him since then - made a successful move up to Training, qualified and competed at the AECs, completed and placed at a Training three day, and competing at the East Coast ATCs, to name a few.

He'll be 22 in January, but he doesn't realize that. He acts like a 2-year-old! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif My ultimate dream with him is to do just do one Prelim event. Being able to pursue coaching with the scholarship will hopefully help this endeavor come true. It's a wonderful opportunity and I sincerely thank the USEA and Joan Goswell for providing it. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm in. I'll be there doing the prelim, so we can have it at my trailer. I'll bring my iPod and speakers for the dance party, and best of all, we can all wear barn clogs! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Seeing as I had to miss all the fun at the convention (stupid college and work), I'm all for attending the Fork. Although seeeing as I don't have a horse to compete and therefore need a good reason to come, I will gladly offer my grooming and braiding skills up for a place to stay (and a "real" excuse to miss work to come). Don't even have classes on friday so could probably be there as early as thursday evening.
<span class="ev_code_BLUE">AND</span> YES I can actually braid! Although please refrain from asking me to use rubber bands, I'm a yarn only kinda person (I'll even bring my own yarn and braiding stuff- just tell me the color!).
<span class="ev_code_BLUE">AND AND...</span>
I'll even offer to bring some alcohol. I've got pretty much everything at the moment and my Lemon Drop Shots are amazing!!

I say that all we Area2/3 COTHers should plan to volunteer (they need them, I can tell you that) at The Fork's 3-star in April. Then, we can all get together again for "Eventers Gone Wild," part deux. I just had so much fun with you guys! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Ok I researched and answered my own question. Accoridng to the provisional omnibus on the USEA site they are on consecutive weekends. That sucks, I was hoping they were on the same weekend.

Yep, they're on back-to-back weekends, but I plan to be there to volunteer for the 3-star and to catch up with friends who are riding prelim or intermediate. You should come on the 6-9! It'll be fun!!!

My family will be there. One is riding in the CICW and they both will ride the next weekend in the HT. I am hoping to fly back to watch and help out.

Tuppysmom -- I'll look for you there! I didn't get to meet you at the convention. It seemed like the weekend just FLEW by! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Oooh Canterlope.... Will you be coming to St. Louis? You just have to meet Woody's mother and other brothers (you already met Maurice, I have Woody's full brother at the farm too) and niece and nephew and uncle, etc. Woody's uncle will be 30 next year. His mother will be 23.

You will have find time to come take a ride with me. We have many miles of trails.

PW, yes I am going to be in St. Louis for the Annual Meeting next year and I would love to come visit the relatives. I've often told Steve that it would be an honor and a privilege to get to see Woody's mom in person. Wild, spotted horses couldn't keep me away from this golden opportunity. http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/yes.gif

Persefne. The weekend did fly by!

Please look them up. They will have a 40 ft Featherlite trl w/LQ pulled by an older International mid size semi. It looks like a Tonka toy truck. Red/White/Blue Idaho plates too. That should make them easy to spot. Can't be be too many Idaho plates at Rocking Horse!

I hope to get down there a couple of times to see what is going on. There seems to be some competition around here as to who gets to stay home and take care of animals in 20 degree weather, and who gets to go spend a few days in FL. I get the feeling that I am down the list. Their farrier and vet are both standing in line ahead of me!
