Dancing Lawn
Jan. 27, 2004, 02:35 PM
I have a good number of t.b.'s in the barn. I'll take one, any day. Let's see: Dancing After Dark, Mystic, No Decision, Errol Starr. Also, Dancing After Midnight. And that's all the t.b.'s. Everyone else, is a different breed or type.

less hard work, more fine dining.

Registered Name: Optical Isomer
Show/barn name: Spartacus, aka Spar
Height: 16.2
Colour: dark bay with a star
Sex: Gelding
Age: 6 going on 13
Occupation: Besides being a spoiled rotten suck? An eventer. And he LOVES it.

I won't ever own another breed. Ever. I might be biased, but I have never ridden or seen a horse with as much heart and intelligence as mine, with the much appreciated bonus of a good mind. He never spooks, but is so alert. In his stall or crossties he's always doing ten things at once, but when we start to work he's completely focused and so enthusiastic about his work and pleasing me. He is absolutely incredible - my dream horse. http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/sadsmile.gif

Rocco is a 1990 TB gelding, 16.2 1/2 hands, blood bay. His JC registered name is Strelka. His breeding is Foolish Pleasure X Springs Promise, he raced but obviously wasn't a star, or I wouldn't be lucky enough to have him now. He was a stud and is a father of 6, I think (I have to look at his record again), and was gelded when he was 9 or so. You wouldn't know it, he's really quiet and has great manners! Now he's my spoiled little baby! http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/yes.gif

I have a new TB "Dan the Man" (registered as Went a Dancin'), he's a coming 3 yo (or a 3 yo according to the JC). He's 16.1+ and still growing, and the most mild mannered lazy boy I have ever been around. He puts all the WBs in the barn to shame as far as laid back attitude goes. His favorite things to do are sleep (laying down out in the sun), eat, and stand in the crossties for hours checking things out.

I thought I wanted a WB because I wanted something calm and mild mannered now that I am getting older. Nobody told Dan he was supposed to be hot and crazy.

If he stays like this I think I will be a TB convert forever.

Lazy Palomino Hunter
Jan. 27, 2004, 03:55 PM
I have one. He's a 17h dark bay gelding with four socks and an upside down heart on his forehead. His JC registered name is Far Reach (never raced, or was in training to race... he was bred to be a hunter). He is shown under Far Out, and his barn name is Mugsy (named after Muggsy Bouges, yes I know its misspelled).

His pedigree: Unfold X Never Far (City Line). He gets his name from his female tail line.

My "Homer" is a 16.1h, 19yo (this April 10th) grey gelding. He's very cool and has the greatest personality!!

His JC registered name (has tatoo no race record) is Home in a Flask. He came to me 11 years ago with the barn name Homer. I showed him as Tullamore Dew (brand of Irish whiskey). He taught me from 3'0" stuff to the 4'0" low amateur jumpers. What a blast to ride! He's just living the good life of trail riding and some dressage and loves to be ridden no matter what we do or where we go. He's always up for anything. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

He's by Wilmington Flask, out of Mystic Home. Anyone know anything about them? Homer was foaled in NJ.

I have two, one JC, 20 year old, registered name Dash De' Clousseau, 16.2, blood bay, star, strip and snipe. Big goof ball, but the sweetest horse on earth. My neices and nephews crawl all over him and he eats it up. Second one is a 15.2 dark bay gelding, no papers, Shaman, and no white except for two tiny little white spots behind his left shoulder. Looks like a scar from where some one took a chunk out of him. He is the little romeo of the group. I have had that horse all up and down the east coast eventing and he is the soundess think I have ever owned. Still acts like he is 4 too!

Sortaleggy, aka Leggs.
16.1, chestnut with Harry Potter lightning bolt on his forehead.
Sire - Sort, who I'd love to know more about if anybody knows anything. I know Sort died in Puerto Rico around 2002. Leggs was bred in MD, DOB 1989.
Leggs has been a joy and a burden in the 5 years I've had him. But we're stuck with each other forever. And one day the judges (dressage) will stop saying 'nice horse, has potential' and we'll get that 60% at 1st level test 1....

I've never owned a TB up until last September. They never really were my breed of choice. I tended to like Arabs (WHAT was I thinking). I love with all my heart my QH/Arab. But this TB, he's something else. He has such a heart (though he can be a huge brat). I don't think I'll ever own another breed of horse. I'm hooked!

His jockey club name is Mr. Sockdolager and his show name is Enigma (although I may still change it), barn name is "Kid". He's around 15.3-16hh. He's a very dark black bay color. I was told he was black all the way, but when I looked under his race records at his color they always raced him as black bay because he is so dark but still a little brown on his belly area.

"Say Yes First", aka Abby, aka Big Mama, 21 year old OTTB who has done god knows what. I did some low level eventing with her (8's for gaits...woohoo). 15.3, chestnut beauty.

"Sweetsofistication" (pesky JC naming rules!), aka Sophie, aka gooberhead, 1, homebred out of Abby who was Abby until she had Sophie, and is now Big Mama. Chestnut, with the cutest half blaze. Mature to 16.2ish by string test. Hopefully will clean up in the Hunter ring someday.

Previously I had:
Tiny Tim, aka Monty, 17 hand bay TB out in CA, is 23 now if he is still with us.

Makar, aka Mariah. 16.1ish hand chestnut mare with a LARGE blaze and little other white. should be 16 this year. Last I heard she was living in MA.

I have a wonderful Thoroughbred. He was born in 1972 by Nictrum out of Carrie Me. He was raced 34 times. After his racing career he became a three-day eventer. I have a championship cooler of his from 1981. I have owned him for 14 1/2 years. He is now entering his 8th year of retirement. The Grumpy Old Man is a very talented Quarter Horse Impersonator. Everybody I have ever known to have met him for the first time has said something to the effect of "that's a Quarter Horse for you." He's kind of short and stocky, pokey, and a total hardhead. I had known him for the better part of a year and had been leasing him for several months when out of the blue during a lesson trainer says "you need to ride him like a Thoroughbred. He might look like a Quarter Horse and he might act like a Quarter Horse, but he is a Throughbred so RIDE HIM LIKE ONE!"

After that, the more I looked at him the more he started to look like a TB and act like one. I still have to push his lazy butt to get him warmed up, but once he is going he has a fantastic work ethic.

That is, until he decides the plastic chairs next to the ring are out to get him! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif

OK, you guys have inspired me to do some research, and now to your dismay I am going to share like the proud Mama I am! Equineline.com is going to pauper me, LOL!

He was foaled at Darby Dan Farm in Kentucky, April 18, 1990.

I found out all about Rocco's babies, they are:

Miss Buffie, 1997/04/09, dk b/ filly
Top Lavenger, 1997/06/01, dk b/ gelding
Cape Foulweather, 1998/03/31, b filly (unraced)
Unnamed, 1999/02/24, colt (application pending)
Creme D'Argent, 1999/04/17, b gelding
Elberton Ellie, 1999/05/11, b filly
Waterkress, 1999/03/22, gr/ro filly (unraced)

I wonder what they are all doing...

I also found out that his career earnings were $20,124, and he came in third in the Breeders' Cup in 1994 - I am ordering the tape online to see him in action! Am I completely nuts?

I told him he would never have to do that stuff again, he told me he wants to be a jumper now. http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/yes.gif

The other is a gelding who will hopefully be my AA horse this year. He's not always a doll and I don't always love him but boy can he jump.

I've pretty much always only ridden and leased TB's. I love them except when turnout sucks.

My past two horses were tatoo-ed TBs - the first one was by Craft Prospector and was bought by some Japanese people and brought to Japan to race, but he didn't do very well. Ended up back in the Bay Area and I bought him from someone who bought him off the track. I should have known, when I saw his registered name was "Forked Tongue", that' he'd try to kill me. He was a devil, and a big one at that. But I loved him dearly and it broke my heart to let him go. I ended up giving him away to a man who played polo but wanted a riding horse also.

Next was Mickey, registered name Nonpareil. He never raced, and supposedly was retired from training due to a bowed tendon, but there really is no evidence of a bow. Had him for 3 1/2 years and now he's for sale, as I want to do eventing and he doesn't want to be a show horse. He gave me so much confidence, despite his spookiness, and taught me how much fun it is to gallop in an open field...what a great summer we had doing that! That horse has a heart to run and I bet he would have been a great racer.

Now I have Miles, who is a TBxQH, but has no papers, so I suppose technically he's a grade horse. This horse isn't afraid of anything, and is so smart. I think that's what I've found with all the TBs that I've worked with - they have such a high level of intelligence and a great capacity for learning, and learning quickly. Miles is game for anything...well, maybe dressage is the exception, but he still tries. He's an excellent trail horse, he learns so fast, he likes to jump, and he's fun to ride.

I can't imagine myself with anything but a TB. Someday I want a paint, an ISH, and I'd love a TBxConnemara. But I never look at the warmblood ads - they just don't interest me for some reason.

Colonel Bart 12yo, that's his racing name and his barn name, and if we get that far, his eventing name. We call him Bart.

I have two...
Torie, aka 'Princess' or 'Cranky' depending on the day, registered 'L'Albereta', by Smokester. 3 and 1/2 yr filly, 16.3h, dark, dark bay with a huge white face, three socks and a white ankle.

Behr, registered 'D'Behr', by Quiet American. 4 and 1/2 yr gelding, 16.3h, blood bay with a star and a white foot.

Both are big, fancy TBs, but very, very different in type. Everything about the filly is big and solid and she is mistaken for a WB by almost everyone. She's a huge mover with TONS of suspension. With all the chrome, she's definitely eye-catching. Has the classic TB spook.

Behr could model that old, classic TB look. Built uphill with great length of neck, huge free shoulder and tons of drive from behind. Lacks the suspension the filly has, but has more freeness and balance than she does. Complete puppy-dog personality, and very stoic. Not much bothers him.

I own a 14 year old bay TB gelding, 16.1hh by the name of Timberwolf. (From Timber Run Farms in NJ)

He's an OTTB & raced under the name "Mr. Idea."

Luckily, his second owner changed his name to reflect her farm's. I like it & kept it. Day-to-day I refer to him as Timber (which spawns all sorts of jokes).

Timber's been a real sweetie & I've had a blast with him since I got him.

His barn name is Brady (Super Noble X Minstrel Act), he hasn't been showing but I've think his show name will be Snapdragon. He's 16.1+ and a chestnut. The current 2 both came from an upper-level event rider who also acts as a sales agent. She gets mostly TBs, some from the track, some never made it to the track. All of them are usually sound as can be. Both of mine she intended to keep for herself. I had to beg and plead to get her to sell me the filly. The gelding had raced previously and came off 100% sound- there isn't a bump or lump on him anywhere. She wanted to keep as well, but she already has half a dozen she is actively competing and didn't need another. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

I have a few:

Sea Accounts - 1999 Black 17 hand stallion approved by the RPSI and attending the 100-day test in August. Barn name is Cyriz and he's the absolute coolest guy!!! (see pics of him in the COTH stallion directory online)

Seattle Marker (show name: Coltrane) - 1998 16.2 Bay gelding. Hunter-type. Barn name is Kirby and he's for sale.

Trucker (yep, that's his JC name! also his barn name). 2000 16.1 gray gelding. Did level 2 jumpers at his first show (an "A") and got 6th. Show name is Token and he's also for sale.

Prairie Jane. Karmen in Kirby's half sister. She's 4 and bay and 16 hands. She's pretty fancy and just getting started. She's for sale.

El Grand Uno. Broodmare due in a couple of weeks. I'll breed her to Cyriz for hopefully an awesome sporthorse.

Nana Do. Broodmare. Will be bred to Cyriz in a few weeks. Did well at the track and has produced winners.

Ms. Whirlwind. Broodmare. Will also be bred to Cyriz and also a winner and winner-producer.

Gee, and this doesn't include my warmbloods!!!

From an entirely thoroughbred broodmare band I have bred champions in dressage and hunters and winners in jumpers and eventing. Nearly all the foals have been by TB stallions. I did breed a couple WBx and an Irishx.
I hope to find owners for them who will appreciate the girls as much as I do.

Me! Robbie is 12 yrs old, 17.2 1/2hh - he stopped growing at 8 1/2 years old! Never raced or even went near a track. Shown to Second Level dressage and low hunter. He was also a conformation line winner as a 3 year old. His grandaddy was a Kentucky Derby winner. His daddy won 1/2 million dollars racing. His Mom raced and then became a hunter.

My warmblood-loving FEI trainers LOVE both my horses, and believe them both capable of very solid FEI work. They have offered on several occasions to buy the filly, as they expect she would excel in both their show and breeding program. As for my gelding, he's not quite as fancy as the filly, but they gush over what a good learner and trier he is.

I, of course, bought the filly to be a hunter and the gelding to be an event horse... the filly will stay a dressage horse for the time being, but Behr should be out eventing at Novice by July.

I have a tb mare. The story on her is that her papers were lost and she has no tattoo. Her show name is Susquehanna Squall with a barn name of Squall. I've had the pleasure of owning her for 11 years and we've done little local hunter shows, a little dressage, and some trail riding. She's currently a broodmare. Her first foal will be a year old this May. She's currently in foal to an Arabian and due in late July or early August.

Feb. 1, 2004, 12:48 PM
I have three TB mares- two of which are just happily retired Broodmares, both off the track originally.
Mexicalli Country (calli) 15 yr old black/brown- Mexican GeneralxAlta Country
She stands about 15.2hh and is about to be ridden nicely under saddle, but front feet that like to crack mean i let her live as a momma and retired girl. Very interesting personality.

Miss Garder(Ava) 16 yr old gorgeous bay mare. Kleven xJoyful One. She was born in california. She stand a very solid 15.1 hh. Has been mistaken for a QH actually! big solid bum and lots of muscle. when she decides to run in the field not a single other horse can keep up, even my young ones that are tbx. Hates to be separate from the others though. She won a 3/4 mile race back in '91 looking at her records.

And then i have
Silver Creek Slew (Sally) Bashful Cloud x Silver Creek lady(Cognizant is her sire). Sally is a gorgeous Bay, 16+HH( haven't measured her lately) and a 8 yr old. My TB dressage Queen. We bought her after watching her move, and everyone that has seen her since can't stop saying how great she moves. Hoping to get her competeing this year. I lucked out and got her for pretty low price because she just didn't want to race.

Paid the Piper ('Bambi') - dark bay 4 y.o. filly by Money by Orleans out of Musical Chorus by Dauphin Fabuleux.

Derby Hearts - dark bay 13 y.o. gelding by Master Derby out of Pass Me the Hearts by Buckpasser.

We currently have 3 TBs;
Mr. Studly is a 3 year old bay sabino/overo named Wild By Design. Shown in hand in '03 and lightly starting under saddle in '04 with dressage. To be jumped later.
2 broodmares for Mr. Studly:
Miss Annihilator (who did not Annihilate anything at the track!) but "Annie" has produced 2 lovely WB sired foals by Santa Cruz. Being bred to WBD will be her first TB foal.
Pirate's Widow: Also an OTT who did not set the track on fire although bred by Jonabell Farm... sired by staked winning Hail To Reason son Hail The Prates. With prior owner had 2 TB foals (1 who did not race all that well and one who is a hunter/jumper) and arrives in foal to a Paint stallion. Also to be bred back to my colt for a H/J foal.

I ride a TB that's barn name is Pete, and his show name will be For Pete's Sake, when we start showing him. He is a bay, about 16.2 hands. I am not sure if he is registered.

I also rode a bay TB that looks quite similar to Pete. I do not remember his show name, or registered name. His barn name is Bill, and he is about 16.1 or 2 hands.

With the exception of one QH and one Welsh, all I've ever owned have been TB's! Add to that, when I rode horses for people, the majority of them were TB's as well (with enough warmbloods to remind me why I owned TB's myself)! http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif I'd say over half of my own were OTTB's, the rest were either bred for racing but didn't make it to the track, or were jumper bred.

Currently I have 3 geldings (first time ever that I don't have a girl in the barn), all unraced. 1 is a retired GP jumper in his 20's, another is a 4 year old greenie, and the last is 5-6 year old rescue TB (VERY green and quite a handful). Two bays and a chestnut.

Love the thoroughbreds, best breed in the world! http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/yes.gif

Her registered (Jockey Club) name was "I'm Not Perfect," though we show under "Miss Demeanor" (both very appropriate http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/winkgrin.gif). Barn name Maverick, aka Mavy or Moses (long story on moses)

I don't have his bloodlines, I would love to get them sometime. Just have not gotten around to inquiring the Jocky Club about them.

I used to event him, (was my first horse I ever tried eventing with) and he was awesome at it! Would go over anything you put in front of him without hesitation! Sadly he was injured and had a lot of time off. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif But that was 3 years ago and the vet says there is no reason he can't jump again, so who knows! I've had two TB geldings: Slate Run, awesome 16.3hh prelim eventer, leased him years ago but loved him like my own. My Little Demon, 17hh Canadian bred, extremely athletic but not my kind of ride. I had an outstanding TBxSF filly by Viscount as a resale project...last I heard from her new owner, Scott Hoffstetler (sp?) was riding her some.

Now, I've just got my Appy mare, her filly (App x QH), and my big old style Paint/Qh who my instructor says looks like an Irish horse. I'm one of those people who doesn't care what breed it is, as long as it gets the job done (as has fun doing it!). Love my ponies!

I do, I do. JC name Demand Better. Barn name Niko. 9 yr. old 16.1h grey out of Demand Attention by Belong to Me. Old-fashioned, big-boned TB, perfectly sound after 5 yrs. on the track. Awesomely intelligent and talented clown. Much sweeter after ulcer treatment, although he still frightens more than one person at the barn...

Second TB to capture my heart. First one, JC name Lawyer Swift. Said goodbye in 1968 and still miss him, always will.

Best breed on the face of the earth, as far as I'm concerned. Glad there's still a fan club.

Love the topic. With a screen name like mine, of course I have a TB! My first horse was a Canadian TB hunter named Good Tidings - or Tidy for short. 16.2 hds, chesnut with one white hind and a white star. I retired him and had him until he had to be put down.

My second horse, a TB I had for nearly 10 years, was a Washington bred. His show name was Tradition, barn name Spenser, and registered name was Smokin' Joe. He was a Bay, 16 hand hunter, with two white hind cornet bands. I had him until it was time to put him down.

The horse I have now is an unregistered TB. Dark seal brown with a few white hairs on his forehead. He's 16 hands and was given to me because he became blind in one eye. As near as I can tell, he's somewhere between 14 and 16 years old. We call him Trooper (because he is one), but I understand he showed under two different names as a hunter - Jimmy Buffet and Jemstone. Like my two horses before - Trooper has his last home! I'll own him until he drops!

Love seeing how many TBs are out there. I wouldn't have anything else. However, we do have a Zangershide warmblood in the family, and she has so much TB and Arab in her lines that she really rides like on.

I train racehorses so I have barnful! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I dont have any that are doing anything other than racing tho... with the exception of Act with Pride, who is a 6 yo dark bay/brown gelding by Take Action out of a Roll On Forever mare (he is Ill. bred). He has been retired from racing and is now a lead pony (which he LOVES!!). He is about 16.1 (never measured him) COULD be taller because he has very high withers. He has his own web album here (http://community.webshots.com/album/156925963APZLmx) with 3 pics of his first day as a leadpony (wearing western tack!!).

Just wanted to say, anyone who knows the registered name of their TB and wants the horses race record I will be perfectly happy to post the info for you! I have a disk with race record info, 1950 - Dec 31 2003. Just post the horse's name (spelled correctly please) and the year of birth, I will be more than happy to post the race record.

You wouldent by chance have access to the given horses race records and ...*cross fingers* markings would you?

What can you find for Exclusive Judge - born 1991?

Sorry, the only info I have is the race record stats, no markings info.

Here is what I have for Exclusive Judge:

(dam) EXCLUSIVE FAIGIE, 1982, Exclusive Ribot- Red Jess by Red Hannigan.

1991 Exclusive Judge,c,Judge Costa 4 44 2 1 1 8,222 ( 81) 0.12
North America 2 YO Record 9 0 0 0 833 ( 57)
North America Dirt Sprints 15 0 0 0 895 ( 59)
North America Dirt Routes 29 2 1 1 7,327 ( 81)
North America Muddy/Sloppy 6 0 0 0 666 ( 69)
DP = 2-1-2-1-2 DI = 1.00 CD = 0.00 AWD = 8.00
Sold at Hip # Sales Price Sire Avg Rank Stud Fee
OBSAPR 1993 89 $2,700 $2,700 2yo ( 1/ 1) NA

How to read the info:
4 44 2 1 1 8,222 ( 81) 0.12
He ran over a period of 4 calendar years making 44 starts, with 2 wins 1 second and 1 third, earning 8,222. His highest speed figure (kind of a rating of how fast he could run) was 81. His SSI (Standard Starts Index) was 0.12.

The other stats are rather self explanatory, it divides his starts up into categories, 2 yo starts, off track, short (less than 1 mile), long etc.

Regarding interpreting sales info:
OBSAPR 1993 89 $2,700 $2,700 2yo ( 1/ 1) NA

He was sold at OBS (ocala breeders sales) April sale (which is 2 yos in training) in 1993 as Hip # 89. He sold for 2,700 against his sires average of 2,700 for 2 yos sold that year (he was the only one hence 1/1). His stud fee is listed as NA, so it was either not published or was unknown or ? IF there were 20 2 yos by that stallion sold that year they would be listed most expensive to least expensive and ranked for example the most expensive would say 1/20, the least expensive would be 20/20.

About SSI: The SSI is a numerical representation of a runners race record in comparison with all other runners regardless of years raced, number of starts and sex. The higher the number, the better the runner. For comparison purposes a runner with an SSI of 32.19 is in the top 0.01% of all runners, and a runner with an SSI of 1.00 is in the top 21.3% of all runners. It is also important to nkow that 50% of all runners have an SSI of 0.36 or better, and 12.4% of all runners earned no money and have an SSI of 0.00.

If any of this is unclear let me know!

Wow thats alot more information than the jockey club sent me! Do you think that OBS would have any information on him? When i bought him we couldnt figure out his tattoo numbers and after 4 tries with the jockey club, they sent me back papers for exclusive judge- which im assuming is him. I just cant find anything with any markings so i could definitly identify him.

Thoroughbreds are the best breed to walk the planet. I leased a 1988 bay gelding for a year, and loved him. I loved the next TB I rode too, over all the other breeds I have ridden. Their looks are totally classy, and I love their personalities.

"My" horse's registered name was Norm's Buckshot, I think. The people I leased him from called him Monty, so I did too. He never raced, but he did have a lip tatoo.

Ridingator if the jockey club sent you a copy of the foal papers for Exclusive Judge they would have had to compare pics of him to the foal pics they keep. They dont send replacement papers without a full set of pics, markings and cowlicks, and they compare those to pics they keep on file. However, they wont send those pics out. The foal papers (registration papers) will have the markings and cowlicks written on them. I would say that if they sent you duplicate papers on Exclusive Judge, chances are its the right horse. They are pretty strict about it, and tend to err on the side of caution.

Edited to add: I dont believe OBS keeps any info on horses they sell (other than pedigree, consignor/owner and sales amount. Have yout ried contacting the breeder (who should be listed on the papers)?

TBs are my Breed of choic and I have always owned one. I currently have my first NOT OTTB and he has been as interesting to work with as the ones that raced :-) Nice to know there are so many others out there who love the breed.

I now have my third OTTB

JC name: Asherman (he's on the Delmar pedigree site, broke his maiden in an allowance race at Laurel Park, kicked out in the Penn National race-fixing scandal in 2000)
USEF name: PR Right Now's Asherman (locally shown under PR Right Now - my company name)
Age: 9
Height: barely 16hh now that he has a topline
OT age 5+
New job: Show hunter

Ash came with a jig and a not-quite-gallop. He did have two leads -- IF you could keep him balanced and upright. No trot, no walk, we had to clear the ring to TRY to canter. I've put pretty much all the retraining on him for better or worse. He's got a lovely brain, but when it blows you have literally 30 seconds to get him back or it's curtains.

He LOATHES nature - puddles, too high grass, butterflies - looooves truck airhorns and being stabled near I95. Is INTENSELY curious about what the people are doing all the time - to the point of not eating or leaving the pasture gate to graze (might miss something!) We (semi)joke we should have made his show name "Samsonite" or "American Tourister" for the way he sightsees around the ring.

But...I love the OTTB idiots. Just something about them that "works" for me...

There is no other breed that I would take care of 365 days a year, regardless of weather or how I feel, than my Thoroughbreds. We've been breeding for the sport market for 20+ years and I've started alot of youngsters for clients of other breeds and ridden or bred mares of other breeds and I haven't seen or met anything I'd rather have. LOVE my Thoroughbreds!

I already replied to this thread once back in January when it started, but since I couldn't resist reading through it again and since I've added two more TBs since then, I'll add them to my list. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

In addition to Tess, TBird, Smartie and Q, and also have:
Twigs (JC Timeless Forest) bay filly, 16.2, two year old in training to go to the track
Tweety, TBird's chestnut filly, born in April.

And since I can't seem to post without adding pictures http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif this is Tweety.

Hi Patchouli,

Pennies is the only foal out of the mare Cash Account. Moms Coffeebreak was a pretty nice, hardknocking racehorse with 5 wins, 7 seconds and 3 thirds, and she was versatile, running short and long. She also loved an off track! Neither one went thru a sale as a baby.

Hi 2Traks

My disk only goes up to Dec 31 of 2003, and of course your boy was a 2 yo last year. At any rate, he did run once as a 2 yo w/o hitting the board (and it was a turf race). I cant speak for this year since my info goes to 12-31-03. I have to say I LOVE Slew City Slew!!

Hobie cat- Thank you very much. Pennies has had a pampered life. I bought her from my friend who bought her straight off the track from her breeder/owner who really loved her. She kept in touch to see how Pennies was doing.

Mom's Coffeebreak was bought at the kill auction here in town. She had a brief stent at CSU as a repro mare reject and ended up at the kill auction. Her eyes captured my heart and I won her. I always wondered how she got to colorado. I really miss her http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/cry.gif She was my first Tb and now I am hooked.
