here's what i want:
nice, thick, black padded dressage bridle (snaffle bit) with wider than the typical jumping/eventing snaffle bridle noseband and browband WITHOUT a flash.

my horse does not need a flash- she does not nothing with her mouth besides softly chew and slobber a little when we are doing dressage

why is this impossible to find? i am an eventer so dressage-y people please help me in my search! do i have to get something custom made- which seems ridiculous since she will only wear this for 1/3 of our shows!

we have currently a "typical" run of the mill black bridle with a removable flash attachment, but the width of the noseband and browband etc. are more "regular" looking and she looks so very pretty in the thicker ones.

thanks- i hope this makes sense

I was going to suggest this one, but 3Hanns beat me to it. A lovely bridle, and I got one for a good price from LongMelford Saddlery in the UK. I ended up selling it b/c my mare really doesn't look good in the wider noseband.

Stubben "passion" snaffle bridle comes without a nosband and has the wider part like you are asking for. I have it on my mare, looks great and so is the quality. It is also padded nicely at the poll.

I got mine off ebay, I think it's saddlery4u. You have to know your size, I always order horse, don't order oversize unless your horse has a MASSIVE head. But it's nice quality, and cheap, around a hundred including shipping.

I have been looking for the same thing, except I am looking for a mono/comfort crown as well. I found this bridle by Ovation. It is not as high end as the Albion but it still looks nice:
Ovation Comfort Crown Dressage Bridle with Removable Flash (http://www.justbridles.com/index.php?p=product&id=10&parent=37)

I do not own it yet, but from what I can tell from pictures, the flash connector can be completely removed from the bridle, so you can't even tell it was there.

I got a really nice Thornhill Pro-Trainer dressage bridle recently. You can order it with or without a flash. I opted for the latter since I don't need a flash either. My only complaint was that it came with cotton web reins. I wound up replacing them with leather reins.

Alternatively, If you find a bridle with a flash you like, you can take it to someone who does leather work and have the flash tab removed. It's very easy to do. Or you can just use a box cutter and cut it off right next to the leather. It would leave a bit of a bump, but it wouldn't be there.

I just take the flash off my bridle and leave the tab. It looks a bit silly, but I want to have the option for the flash for my young horses, or in case I need to sell it. Granted mine is brown, so I could probably sell it easily without a flash, but still.

Bobby's or Stubben.

Bobby's nosebands tend to be (or become) floppy over time.

Look at the Just Bridles website. I just bought a couple of Vespucci bridles (love the design...) and the way Just Bridles does it, you can order different bridle parts separately just in case your horse has an unusually proportioned head.

My gelding, though he has a long, long face, only needs a cob size headstall, but a full size browband.

Many noseband styles and brands to choose from!

You could also look into double bridles and sell the bradoon hanger. They usually have cushy, wide nosebands and no flash. You can always sell the bradoon hanger and reins. Just another suggestion.

Here's a unique snaffle bridle I found listed on eBay:

I have an Albion KB and love it. The noseband is wide and padded and the crown is supposed to be extra comfortable.
