Can a horse overdose on MSM? I know a normal dose is around 10,000mg, but will feeding more be dangerous?

The SmartBreathe my horse is on has 5000mg MSM. I want to put him on a senior joint supplement, but it has an additional 12000mg.

Anyone know what the max dose or overdose level for a 1200lb horse?

I doubt you will find anything very precise. But there are SO many joint "formulas" out there it must be possible to find one with relatively less MSM if you look. SmartPak has that comparison chart that's very helpful.

The putative "active ingredient" in SmartBreathe is the MSM (and their leap to why it might work is pretty large, IMO) so why not just give the joint stuff, skip the SmartBreathe, save a few bucks? :)

17,000mg MSM should not be a problem. 20,000mg is generally accepted as the "treatment" dose or whatever the term is (can't remember!), and 17,000 isn't much under that.
