How to Make Nose Net for Headshaker?

Hey there! We're pretty sure that my pony is suffering from head shaking. I want to make a nose net out of a nylon to test our theory and see if it helps. Does anyone have a link for instructions on how to make one? Recommendations for type of pantyhose (thick like a control top or thin just plain nylon, etc)? How tight should it fit on the nose? Should it be pressing on the nose or hanging with a little "slack" between the muzzle and the net? Thanks for any help!

I use a human hairnet in the correct color to match the horse's nose. It doesn't matter if its the one with the bigger holes or the smaller holes, they both work equally well if they work at all for that particular horse. You can even notch it so you have two ends to tie together around the noseband.

I bought the Cashel one, which was pretty cheap ($8, I think) but only comes in black, but before that I tried a piece of very gauzy fabric. I also tried the pantyhose, which my horse freaked out about.

May have to try the hairnet, it might go better with my white faced chesnut! I bought the Equilibrium one, but it was so cheasy for $60 that I sent it back without using it.

For my horse just having it hang over his nose is enough. I use a flash and it velcroes across the nose. Last year I had trouble with it flying up when we jumped or if it was windy, so I think I'm going to try using braiding thread to tie the bottom to the flash on each side.

I used pantie hose for Jay, which ever kind I found in my drawer with runs :lol:

After i put it on him i'd stretch the fabric by his nostrils so he could breath a bit easier.

For him it was all about the pressure, like when you have a sinus headache and you push on your nose or rub it.

He'd be happiest if he could stand around and rub his face on me all day but the tight pantie hose worked pretty well

Thanks! When you use pantyhose are you using a leg? Like, his nose going into the foot part of the nylons?

Just a strip of panty hose...then punch a hole and tie one piece to the noseband and have another string through the bottom to tie to the chin strap.

Not actually putting the nose in a foot or something.

It's just the pressure/sensation that stimulates the nerve endings.
