anyone use dmg for summer itch

one of my horses gets summer itch every year, i have tried all the various suggestions from the internet and my vet, had the vet out and she suggested dmg before it starts this year, anyone try this?
so far what has kept it from getting nasty every year is the heavy duty worming routine, baths and mgt but it never really gets under control, just not the bleeding bald mess she was when i got her

I have never used DMG but I have a horse with SEVERE summer skin reactions from flies gnats mosquitos. He had to wear a complete fly sheet for years and I tried everything! Until one winter I read up on increasing the amoun of omega 3 fatty acids in the diet. So I used flax seeds 1 cup a day. If you can get flax seeds you can also do it using oils like cocosoya.

Did you do the double dose Equimectrin and then double dose Equimectrin again 2 weeks later? I wish I had know about that when I had my really itchy horse. New horse only itches the dock of his tail -- I did the above which completely cleared it up and then put him on the cocasoya for good measure. He has smooth AND shiny hair now.

most people have been using Equimax, but some, like you, have had good results with plain ivermectin.

yes,last year i did the double doses of equimax and it cleard up for a short period of time but not entirely, it came back and i repeated the 2 week schedule, that routine improves the situation but hasn't entirely resolved it, i'm trying to head the whole thing off this year if i can
i used dmg for my endurance horse years ago and on another horse that had heaves, i think it helped in both situations but i don't see how it works for skin problems, unless there is an immune issue underlying the problem
