Dont own this horse...but was really wondering HOW he is the colour that he is.
Dam = buckskin
Sire = dark bay (almost black)
The baby was born bay, is now roaning out quite a bit (bay body, white hairs)and the rear end appears to be buckskin!
Hes 2.
Any idea what colour he will turn out? Can he BE buckskin? Or do you think he is going to be Grey? Or, roan? Im confused!

Well he can't be grey if neither parent is. I would probably guess he is either bay or very dark buckskin, the white hairs could be the rabicano gene in affect if either parent carries one.

Do you have a picture you can post of him?
Remember that dilutes are the same as non dilutes in that there are a HUGE array of colour coat variations that are possible, from very light to very dark
This Morgan stallion is a genetically verified buckskin:

and yet very few people would see his picture and guess that he was a buckskin ...
We are now discovering the smoky brown colour (as my stallion appears to be throwing the brown gene along with the dilute colours ...) so what was born looking like a buckskin, is now shedding out to be a golden brown colour:
At birth:

and as a yearling, and he is definately smoky brown and not buckskin:

So - if the sire had the brown gene in there and/or the dam did along with her buckskin colouring, it could be smoky brown at play as well ...
What is his breeding? Is it possible the dam was dun or grulla and not buckskin at all?
