Linaro is one of my favorite stallions ever as an individual, but I would only use him to improve gaits in our jumper mares as he is not known for adding jump. That said, of the two, I would go with Ariadus.

I agree with SJ66.

I have a Linaro filly and I've seen Ariadus foals.

My Linaro filly has more of a dressage type movement. Too early to say much about her scope, but she will jump over poles and boxes when loose in the indoor. I bred her to replace her mother in my program and my goal was a higher neck set and more impulsion. I plan to breed her to a jumper in a few years.

The Ariadus offspring I've seen could have easily gone in either ring. Plenty of scope, nice impulsion, but more huntery.

My filly is well conformed with no hind end issues (hadn't heard of that being a problem). She was carpus valgus at birth, but I think that was due to her early arrival at 314 days. She straightened perfectly with no intervention. :)

Foxfire Farms was great to work with!

We have two Linaro fillies out of a Liberty M mare. Both good movers with great attitudes like their dad. The younger one is coming 3 this year and has shown good form easily jumping out of her pasture underscoring the Oldenburg Verband inspector's assurance: "These fillies will jump with Linaro you can not go wrong."

We don't have Ariadus kids but a couple of friends do. All are quite happy with their foals. I don't know if you can make a wrong choice between the two.

A frank discussion with Karen would give you the best advice, describing your mare.

Ariadus.

Linaro would be a stallion I'd want as a broodmare sire if I wanted to produce a holsteiner dressage horse.

I have a 3-year-old Ariadus that we have just put 30 days on under saddle. I bought him because I was so impressed with the "amy" personality Ariadus seems to put on his foals and was too impatient to breed one myself. Besides, you can pick up nice prospects these days for a song.

So far, he is not disappointing me. He's very quiet and kind, a tryer. My trainer's pretty happy with him. Haven't jumped him yet, so can't help you there. The ones I have seen are above average to good jumpers. Good enough to win in the amy ring in tough company. Don't know whether or not I'd say they are the next 4' derby winner. Most are very good movers...the consistent hack winner in some cases. Not the smartest horse in the barn either, I will say that. But sometimes, that's a GOOD thing.

I bought specifically for disposition - a riding horse for myself. My guy's quite the character and is going to be a fun horse to have around. He's also drop dead gorgeous.

I would agree with whoever said to call Karen. She probably can rattle off about his kids better than anybody.

Bred a TB mare to Linaro 5 years ago. Colt came out with beautiful type, long sexy legs and no power. He himself is mostly blood. Linaro is known for improving movement and is an important stallion, but I do not believe good for a TB mare. If I had to choose between these two for a TB mare, I would choose Ariadus.

Okay, so, here is a scoop. My daughter rode two different Linaro babies. See them at www.foxcroft-farm.net. One is Upper Crust, and the other is Pure Imagination.

Both are amazing over fences, and amazing animals. AMAZING. They are gorgeous. Upper Crust had movement to DIE FOR. And I don't say that lightly. We moved to ocala about two months ago, and I have seen some amazing horses here, but truly, watching Upper Crust move across an arena took my breath away. In the 30 years expierance working horses, she might be the first who just made me stop and go WOW every time I watched her work. The pics of her are at her first event, under saddle 45 days. The comments from the dressage judge was WOW, WHAT a NICE mover, and now about the other mare, Pure Imagination. Emma has a sorry history of being started backwards. A double bridle as a two year old. In Mary's defense, she wasn't told this till later. Anyway, the mare had some issues when she came ot us. The first time we took her to school x/c, she jumped everything with such heart, grace and ability.

Between the two, I am going to breed to Linaro. He throws movement, looks, and jump....really, really exceptional babies. I am breeding in June I hope.

IF you would like to see some additional pics of these two mares, let me know, I can email you some.

I've had three Ariadus foals and three Linaro foals. You can see them all on my website at www.minglewoodsporthorses.net. The Ariadus foals are Parlona, Saratoga and Astro. The Linaro foals are Ronneby, Larz and Landewin. Parlona and Ronneby are broodmares and have produced super foals. The other four are pursuing careers as hunters, jumpers and one dressage horse.

I think both stallions have potential to throw foals for any discipline, though the Linaros tend to be better movers (in my experience). The temperaments were all good.

Can you post a conformation photo of your mare?

Here are some photos of my mare. I don't have many of her, unfortunately, so this is the best I've got. The first photo was taken of her as a 3 year old. The second one was take of her last summer (as a 4 year old).

I would absolutely not breed this mare to Linaro. She needs better legs. If you have to breed to one of them , I would certainly choose Ariadus as he has great legs and tends to improve them. JMHO
