Spinoff of the Back on Track Quickwraps thread, re: the Back On Track Saddle Pads.

I spent alot of money on real sheepskin to keep my horse's back cool.

I can't quite wrap my mind around why you would want it warm, except in winter?

Or are they for use in winter?

Actually I bought one (should be here tomorrow) for my mare because she needs to be tight in her back...and I figured it might help loosen her muscles.

I have the BOT pad with the thinline sewn in. I think it helps my horse warm up and loosen in his back a bit more.. but then again it could be my imagination.. His back doesn't feel any hotter to the touch after I ride nor does it sweat more than when I rode him in a sheepskin pad. I don't think the therapy is to be a "hot" heat but a warmth that helps their muscles loosen and be less stiff.. if that makes any sense. I ride in mine year round.

It is a very nice pad, well made, large and the thinline adds an extra bonus.

The mare that we have that goes in them had some major tight backed and sore back issures before the BOT pad, and now she doesnt have any issues... so although I dont really know the whys for it, i know that for some horses it definitely is the answer.

The idea is keep the muscles warm so they stay loose and relaxed. I only ride my older mares in the BOT pads and they warm up so much faster in them and give me their backs more quickly. My husband has the elbow brace which he loves from where he injured it years ago.
