I'm wondering if anyone knows someone who has shipped into the U.S. to breed to a stallion whose semen can not easily be exported to Canada because of logistical problems that have arisen due to the C.E.M. requirements? There are two stallions that I would like to consider for my mare but both are so far from a federal vet's office that it would be just about impossible for the paper work to be completed in a timely manner and frozen is not available. If someone has shipped into the U.S., I would love to hear about their experiences. In my case, a month old foal would probably be with the mare and I would do the shipping myself. The mare would not be shipped to the stallion (both stallions are quite a distance away). I would be looking for a place to have her bred just across the border and have the semen shipped to where the mare was.

The CEM paper work can be done while the semen is shipped. All it takes is the paper work to be faxed at the border. It is quite simple.

The only issue is if the SO doesn't/can't travel all the way to the federal vets.

Yes and it is a big issue for some SO. Some have to travel up to 3 hours to get to the fed. vet and then wait in line, have the papers done and come back. It is time consuming and cost prohibitive and some just can't make it and refuse to ship to Canada.

I know someone who shipped to a breeding clinic in Buffalo NY from Ontario because he wanted to breed to Briar fresh, but I dont know the name of the clinic and am not in touch with the person to inquire.
