View Full Version : Brainstorm funny slogans for COTH t-shirts here!
Erin
Mar. 4, 2004, 03:12 PM
I can't believe I didn't think of this before... kudos to buryinghill1 for (inadvertently) coming up with this idea on (of all places) the lastest PV thread! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
So I'm working on organizing some new COTH merchandise, a la the COTH caps and polo shirts we've already done. T-shirts are a possibility.
I thought it might be fun for everyone to brainstorm funny COTH-isms for the backs of the t-shirts. If we can come up with a handful of good ones, we can vote for everyone's favorite... or perhaps even offer a couple of shirts with different slogans.
Any ideas? http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well, maybe not funny, but how about a quote:
"This it be die most importante thing in die world, that someone they loff us."
attributed to Willem, a Horse. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Or better, "Willem, he was a German Horse and this be straight from his mouth"
[Edited because I finally saw the typo]

I'm not real bright this afternoon - but to get the ball rolling how about something like
" The COTHer Sports" With maybe a horse Or the COTH logo?
or perhaps "BE-COTH WE CAN" ( http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif my favorite)
or "COTHer me with (fill in the blank - ribbons, hay, horsehair, whatever...)
or "I'm just COTHered in joy"
or "I'll COTHer your back if you'll COTHer mine"
just some thoughts - don't know if that's at all the type of idea you're looking for though
If things get better with age, I'm nearing perfection!

Could we fit "Don't nott to buy no ugly ass things for us to wear und then say it be a present for us, it don't nott to be, it be for you." on a t-shirt? http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/winkgrin.gif

Obviously, I like Willem's first quote best. It seems that he summed up the way that most of us here at COTH feel about our horses.

Once upon a time, someone came on here and complained (in short) that they were being asked to leave their current barn (in part) for cursing....and to emphasize their plight, wrote "WTF" several times in the post. Another BBer astutely pointed out that perhaps they curse more than they notice (referencing the liberal use of "WTF") and then WingedPanda jumped to her defense and suggested that she might not actually be cursing, she might be saying "Where's the Fruitbat?" And so it lives on.

"If you think your hairstyle is more important than your brain, you're probably right."
How about a whole list of the acronyms we use: DQ, HP, OMGIH, BNT, GM, PV, IMHO, FWIW, ROTFLMAOPIMP, BGSG, PITA, etc., all over the shirt. A la the Forrest Gump shirt that listed all the ways to eat shrimp. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I suppose you could say something with them too:
"IMHO DQ'S are PITA's, HP's see GM & say OMGIH a BNT, & FWIW the BGSG has me ROTFLMAOPIMP. Don't understand? Join COTH!" Or something far more witty than that. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I absolutely DO NOT buy clothing with slogans. EVER. But, I would buy one that said, "where's the fruitbat?" It would be like a secret code, similar to the mason's handshake. If we saw someone wearing it, we would know, right away, that they were a friend, and we'ld have lots to talk about at horseshows.

OK, I actually made a really funny What the Fuh... horsie face drawing for Bensmom to put on a t-shirt transfer for Robby. and I am totally outing her for not doing it! I would gladly donate said silly drawing to be added to a WTF t-shirt! If in fact, it's too tasteless for COTH to actually out their name on it, one could easily harrass Bensmom into sending a jpeg to anyone brave enough to print up a few.

I love the Willem quote, but I'd REALLY like it as a poster with the picture of Willem and Coreene that recently made it to the cover of a book. (Forgive me, dear author, for not remembering your name!) It would have a prominent place in our tackroom.
I'd like a lapel pin that said "OMGiH", that I could wear in the buttonhole of my show jacket.
And while I was walking the course, I'd be wearing a ball cap with "Where's the fruitbat?" on it.
Can some clever artsy type come up with a brand-like logo for the COTH BB so we can have saddle pads with that on the corner? It would only require designing a patch (and the design could go on the back of the Fruitbat hat, too!). I'd loff to go into the dressage ring with that!

So far I like:
Willem's quote--if we could have a small pic of him with his name underneath; his quote on the back with the COTH addy as well--that would be most excellent! http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/yes.gif
"BE-COTH WE CAN"
the "Proud member of the COTH Hoof Fetish Clique" http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
we might run into some problems with anything having to do with "Peeps", although I am sure if someone from COTH talked to them first it is free advertising for them and I think they would say yes to COTH using their name, so I second something having to do with Peeps... Like "COTH--the Peeps choice!" (maybe we could even reproduce some of the Peeps (chicks--good one, or hearts) on the T-shirts in living color... http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/yes.gif
I also like the one about "my name is ______ "... If you leave the blank long enough we could all go to our local crafts store and buy that liquid for clothing and write our names in there for all the world to see... http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif

WTF usually stands for "What The Fu**"? As in, "WTF does that idiot think she's doing?" Someone posted about having been criicized for cursing and insisted she didn't curse or use bad language, at the same time using WTF several times in the same post. Someone else pointed out the apparent contradiction. WingedPanda came up with the very helpful suggestion that, since the first poster insists she doesn't curse, then "WTF" must stand for something else; i.e., Where's The Fruitbat? http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

COTH is a great magazine, and the forums are great bulletin boards. I think the slogan should be funny but should relate to the fact that the COTH forums are horsey bulletin boards. Just so everyone knows, we're a little limited in the tshirt design. I think there can be a small pocket logo on the front (the COTH logo would be the logical choice for that one), and then a larger graphic/writing on the back.
If we were to do a Willem shirt to benefit Cushings, it might have to be a separate project so we can somehow funnel the profits to UC Davis. I'm not quite sure how that would work with the vendor site I've been working with, so let me look into that a little more.

It looks to me like COTH should do several designs!! Since I have nothing original to add, I vote for the following:
"When I can't ride, I post"
"Where's the fruitbat?"
"What the fuh?"
"[This message was edited by Erin...]"
"Willem quote"
"Top 10 reasons..." (Jingles & LOFF first)
I'd probably buy a couple if they came in different designs. If not, the top ten list might be the best way to get the most in one shirt http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/yes.gif

OK, here's my stab at a top 10 list
Top 10 Reasons to visit COTH
10. You never knew you could do so many things with a Peep.
9. You learn why Canadians look forward to U.S. Thanksgiving.
8. You can rhapsodize for days over pictures of horse feet an no one will lock you up.
7. You can impress everyone (even DQs!) with haiku wars.
6. You can learn all the latest h/j fashion trends whether you wanted to or not.
5. You can flip, nump or fing and others will join you.
4. You can get vital information on managing T.I.P.
3. You can be a member of the Baby Greenie Support Group (even if he ain’t green)
2. You can [This message was edited by Erin on March 6, 2004 at 06:39 PM.]

Peeeeplle! You can't wear a saying about "numping and finging, socks or no" in public, inside joke or not! Geez, that won't do the BB any good. What will they think! Egad. What if they think the wrong thing and come HERE! Super-egad.
Go ahead, walk down the street wearing a T-shirt talking about numping and finging. I dare you. Better still, walk around Manhattan for a while, just as a test. Might be quite the experience.

The when I can't ride I post may have to be altered a bit. Although I really like it, it would require a lot of explaining to horsie people asking "aren't you riding if you posting? Cause I post when I trot?!"

I would adore a "can you feel the loff", "this message edited by erin", any willem quote, or a jingles shirt. Keep them coming guys!

Casting my vote for either
"From Greenies to Grand Prix, one post at a time."
or "When I can't ride, I post."
Both quite clever.

I dont know what youre using for t-shirts erin, but i ask for caution if you use cafe press. Ive gotten some verry crummy shirts, that were very expensive from there. They lasted one wash and thats it. Others have said the same.... They use the iron on type transfer things from what i can figure out. they just dont hold up

Hoodies! Please! And they could work to our benefit too-a t-shirt can only be worn so many times before people start looking at you funny. But think about how often you can wear a good hoodie!
All those horse show mornings, late nights at the barn, even in the summer, when there's just a little nip in the air-I always keep one in my trunk. And those nice heather grey ones disguise the dirt oh so nicely http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It's a COTH thing. You wouldn't understand.
My vote is for Portia's Willem quote, but some of the more obscure suggestions are HYSTERICAL. MistyBlue, after pulling up the photo of the fat-cheeked fruitbat, I am pretty sure my boss thinks I have lost it. I am still laughing. http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif

Great minds think alike Nikita!
I was just looking for an old post in SHB and came across this thread (http://chronicleforums.com/groupee/forums?q=Y&a=tpc&s=6656094911&f=3206053911&m=30760668), which amazingly enough did NOT get us sued. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif And I noticed this suggestion by Karousel that was obviously way ahead of its time!

*rotflmao* Oh Erin, thanks for that link! http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif It was as funny to read now as it was then.
This comment of yours is great.....
Although I admit I have often wondered if Infopop would consider including a "vote this poster off the island" function in their next version of the software...
Are we going to get that option? That would be so nice http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/yes.gif
And an excellent suggestion for a shirt slogan -
