Was it worth the wait on these saddles? Their customer service seems a little shady and the wait time a bit ridiculous, at least from what I've read of this thread. Was it worth it?

Danya, I think it all depends on if you were happy with the saddle or not.

I ordered an 18", extra-wide tree saddle and expected a nice, forward flap (based on the pics on their website). What I got was a (barely) 17.5", med-wide tree, straight flap saddle. Although the saddle is marked as an 18" seat, it measures just shy of 17.5". And, it is NOT a deep seat - not by any means! What I consider deep is the Bates Caprilli, and this isn't even close.

So, no, I don't feel that it is worth the wait. I am very disappointed in AE and they have yet to respond to my 6 emails regarding my incorrect order. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Eventer_mi, did you buy the saddle through an Ebay auction? If you did, try emailing them through the Ask the seller a question link in the auction. It seeems most people are getting their emails answered so perhaps something is going awry with yours and they aren't getting them.

I ran into that problem once with an auction. If I emailed them directly they wouldn't get it but if I went through the Ebay link, it worked. Figured it was at least worth a try for you.

Even if you didn't buy it through an Ebay auction, you can find plenty of their auctions on there and still use the Ebay email system to try and contact them. Good luck!

LoriO - I wish it were as simple as email not getting processed/received,but since I'm emailing Angelique directly and she's received my emails in the past and promptly responded to them, I doubt it's an email glitch.

Funny how they ignore me when I have an actual problem with the saddle sent, yet they were so willing to talk when I ordered the d*mn thing!

Natalie - compared to my HDR saddle, I like my St Lourdes All Purpose MUCH more - I am going to sell my HDR and buy another one in a regular tree for my TB who goes in the HDR. The seat size and all are right on, and the leather is amazingly soft. I was hunting last weekend and someone remarked that teaching must be paying better, as I had a "fancy expensive new saddle!!!" I loved it - just grinned!!

I finally fixed my website!!

I was going to order a saddle from them. Dressage saddle and maybe a custom english later... Just e-mail them though.
Anyone else have the boots...how long did shipping take?

Ok so yesterday I recieved my leathers and girth that I ordered but no saddle http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif I emailed them so we'll see what they say. I also ordered the Passion which others have ordered and recieved different saddles. I told them I would be willing to substitute a different saddle of MY choosing if they don't carry the passion anymore. I'm pretty lucky though because I paid on 2/3 so this isn't that long of a wait. We'll see how long it takes for them to get a saddle out to me though.

so i rode in the saddle today. CAN I SAY COMFORTABLE????at first it was very uncomfortable (just a different feel than my crosby), but after awhile I got used to it and it actually put me into a very nice posistion. Indy seems happy in it (the regular tree is a little narrower than I'd like, but it works fine with the fleeceworks wither relief pad and a beval baby pad underneath. I'll get pics of it on the Pony tomorrow for everyone.

I GOT IT!!!!!!!!! (finally)

Heres my review, yet I havent had it on a horse so it may change. I ordered the Passion with the changable blocks.

Ordered size 17 1/2, feels like a large 17'. Im not unhappy about the measurements at all.

Ordered a medium tree to fit my narrow tb (since everyone said they run narrow), well to me, it doesnt look narrow at all. This may be a good thing as it might actually fit fatty boy and the TB.

The seat is nice and deep (but not tooo deep) and the flaps arent too forward (my other saddle has very forward flaps) but they arent straight cut either. I LOVE the way this saddle fits me.

It seems as if this saddle was designed for the average build 5'6 person. Flaps may be too cut back for a tall thin person and may be too long for a very short person. The blocks are changable so I can get a perfect fit.

Leather is stiff on the flaps, very stiff. Same with the billets. Seat is SUPER soft. I think after a good oiling the flaps will soften up.

Overall I am VERY VERY pleased with this saddle. it was very much worth the 10 week wait!!

Glad to hear about that Squish. That is actually the saddle I am looking into, although I am not real happy about hearing that it might not work for a tall person, lol, as I am tall with long legs. Who knows ... I am waiting to see about a custom flap, so that might work.

But very glad to hear it seems nice. I can't wait to hear how it rides!

I also made a huge order (over 10 things)....and have only rec'd three of the smaller items. I ordered two saddle, several bridles, etc. I got the 2 pair of leathers and the curved girth.

I have seen better work, but for the price is good (what I have got)....the leather is thin, but good leather (if that makes sense). The stitching is good too.

I ordered a St. Lourdes the 2nd week of January and we are going on 9 weeks now and NADA!! I emailed them today upset. I have talked to them several times and they said it would be here shortly and that was weeks ago!

I too am frustrated and even if it is nice tack, I dont think I will reorder due to this.....

Lynn,

I am getting a refund... apparently, the hang up there was Yahoo small business was the one who has been handling the credit cards for Andean and they told them today that it normally takes 1 or 2 billing cycles... yeah, they want to keep my money for two months??? I don't think so... Andean didn't think so either and they manually did it this morning. It should show up by tomorrow.

The box is a gift from Andean for not getting the saddle. I believe it may be one of their sheepskin girths. I'm guessing they didn't want to offer me one of the other saddles at the price I paid for the Grand Prix http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

HOC,

It has a origin scan from Argentina dated Mar 3rd. Then...

Mar 4: Miami scan & hold
Mar 5: Miami release, "in transit", additional scan
Mar 9: Miami scan twice, Hialeah scanned and Jacksonville scanned.

There aren't any other big cities in Florida that they can send this thing too is there?? http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

Andean imports these saddles from Argentina. All the saddles originate from there. They have an office in Arizona, but I don't know how often they are there as it sounds like they spend a lot of time in Argentina.

I 'won' my saddle 4 weeks ago & started being concerned recently as there was no word from them about it, so I emailed them. I received the response back tonight.
They offered:
1. A refund for the saddle. or...
2. Free shipping. or...
3. A free bridle, girth or leathers.

I still want the saddle as the feedback in this thread regarding the quality has been very positive. As I've also 'won' a bridle and leathers from them, I am thinking I'll opt for the girth. Has anyone received the girth & if so, what did you think?

Thanks!

UPS is cruel. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif They are all sitting around probably laughing at us COTHERS because they know how much we are watching these saddles move ever so slowly through UPS.

Mine has sat in Buenas Aires Airport UPS for 3 days now - perhaps UPS gave the thing a Diners Club membership... Hasn't budged. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif Now, how hard is it to pick up a box, and throw it on the plane http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/uhoh.gif

See, it's happening to me now, I have this sort of intense impossible sudden-onset impatience at getting this saddle - a sorta saddleroadrage. It's a common sickness we have all contracted towards the end of our saddle wait. I've seen a few go down. I hope I can survive this. Most importantly, I hope UPS delivers this by the 21st so I can practice in the saddle before the show. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Better News. Called UPS. Despite what that tracking number says (sitting in Argentina), it has already cleared customs this am, and now is on-route to me for next week.

By the way, the lady couldn't tell exactly, but it looked as though there were twelve boxes involved, so lots of people are getting stuff.

I feel much better.... I had a momentary attack of UPSitus. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

::scratching head::

okay, talking to my riding instructor yesterday during my lesson we had to admit that my silly little cheap-o saddle fits my mare SO well that she's traveling and working better than ever. She's rounding her back and using herself more than previously, even with a saddle that to all appearances fit very very well.

I'm impressed. She's NOT an easy horse to fit, what with the lack of withers and wide and flat back.

I'm torn about whether I should sell my old saddle - it was my baby! It took forever to find one that fit even that well for the price that I paid for it. Decisions, decisions... http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

To those of you that got the St. Lourdes All purpose are you hunter or jumper riders? I do hunters (well, that is what we try to do, lol). I have a hard time getting out of the Wintec all pourpose I ride one mare in and didn't know if that is a common problem for hunters in an all purpose saddle. What I mean is I have a hard time getting into a half seat (I just flat her). But I do want something that I can sit in, so not a really flat seat.

Sorry to be such a bother, but I am trying to decide which saddle to pick. It is really hard without being able to actually sit in them. Right now I am leaning towards the Passion, but a lot of ya'll have gotten the all purpose and seem to like it, so I was just curious.

Oh, also a question about the girths, if anyone knows. Are they double or triple elastic? I have a 50" triple elastic that doesn't fit one of mine, and the 52 double elastic is bigger than I would like, lol.

i have the all purpose saddle and it is not your typical all purpose saddle as it has the normal close contact cantal and really has smaller knee blocks. Indy is doing AMAZING in it, he is really moving nicely and it's really very comfortable. We're going to see if a saddle fitter at the local saddlery can put some larger knee blocks in it (it doesn't feel balanced with the ones they came with). all in all, i love the saddle

Got my package and it included a sheepskin girth and a bridle (no reins, but I'm kind of picky about those any way). Ah Men wasn't so sure last night about that sheepskin, but settled down and went well in it. I think I'm pretty happy with it, although it'll have to be a work girth since I picked up an extra-wide Wintec for him and, of course, that's black.

I believe the sheepskin girth is also double and it definitely is elastic on both sides. I was very pleased with the quality of both.

Cinderz - what model did you order? Sorry to hear about the wait.

In case anyone's interested, I received this email today with some additional information:

Kristen,

Thanks for writing, and please excuse the delay in
responding. I don't know specifically which ASC and
which St. Lourdes saddles you're interested in, but
for example, the Casimira and the Passion both have
flaps that are 15" long by 14" wide. The Casimira,
and the ASCs in general have a more narrow twist, and
the St. Lourdes a wider twist. The twist on a
Casimira is 1.5", and the Passion is 2".

Both the ASC and the St. Lourdes saddles can be
lengthened in the flap if purchased from our website,
but cannot be altered if purchased from eBay.

They can also both be made from a wither tracing if
purchased from our website. In other words, our
website is a better option for those who are looking
for a highly customized saddle, and our eBay auctions
are more for those who are looking for a standard
sized saddle.

Please feel free to email with any further questions
you may have.

Kind regards,

Angelique

Has anyone received the dressage "Vienna" model? Also several of you have the Prestige - what is the seat like? Can you compare it to a Wintec Isabell? Wider through the twist? Where do the stirrup bars hang? Can you compare the feel of sitting in it to any other well known saddle? Oh and I want to know all of this about the Vienna and even the Julietta if anyone knows...

Thanks!!!!

rfath
May. 18, 2004, 06:57 AM
The seat on the Prestige is fairly deep with a rather pronouced rise in the pommel (much to the chagrin of my beginner-rider boyfriend).

I found that the 18" is a tad more snug than the other 18" saddles that I've sat in (I ride in a 17.5" Wintec as well). I can't really comment on the twist versus other saddles, since my last one was a Berney Brothers with a fairly wide one; this is less so.

Anyone heard anything about sales they're having recently? I was supposed to be on their list, but apparently not?
