What size rein do you use, not full vs pony but what width? I typically use 5/8". Is that normal for you or do you use something different? I am working on a new project and I would really appreciate your input .

Same here- 5/8". Widest I have are 1/2 inch. :) What are you working on?

As big as I can get  I really like something to grab onto when I'm galloping (or just riding in general I suppose) and I have "man hands" so it works out.

The racehorse ones are pretty wide--I think they must be at least 3/4", maybe 1". But I find that waaay too much to hold on to. Mine are 5/8", but I prefer 1/2" if I can find it (easy in web or laced, not so easy for rubber.)

My boss prefers 1" (grew up with race tack) so all our hunting bridles have 1" rubber reins. It takes some getting used to, but I've adjusted to them.
The reins on my own bridle are 3/4" rubber, or 5/8" web. I don't like narrower than 5/8", at least for galloping, as you can't get as much grip-- reins slip through your fingers, harder to bridge, or give you worse blisters. ;) On a double bridle, the curb rein might be 1/2", but that's the only exception.

1/2 or 5/8 web or web with rubber thread. I have small hands and like thinner reins. Have never liked any rubber I've tried

I have a variety, mostly 5/8 and 3/4. Most of the time i prefer the 3/4. But when I am ponying I prefer 5/8/
Any smaller and I have no "feel".
