I have a 23 year year old mare who I am going to try to coax one more foal out of. She is sound and trots around the pasture merrily, but I notice some stiffness in the hocks when lying down or stretching out to pee.

I would like to keep her on something during her pregnancy to help lubricate the joints. Any of the typical supplements that are contraindicated for pregnant mares?

I keep my mare on joint supps due to a bad stifle. I've never had a problem, but make sure not to give her anything w/ Devil's Claw in it. That can produce an abortion.

I currently use the Majesty's Flex Wafers. They are in handy, dandy treat form and my mare loves them. The Flex Wafers also comes w/ HA. I've also used Fluid Action HA in the past and AniMed AniFlex Complete. The Flex Wafers have the highest amount of HA in them (why I switched to them) and are quite reasonable in price.

I have an early teens mare with an old hock injury that needed to be presented for breeding approval in 2009 (well approved with the registry I wanted to register the foal). No lameness involved, but I wanted to make sure she was feeling her best for the inspections, so I had her on Cosequin Optimized with MSM with no ill effects.
