It doesn't hurt to have John French on your back, but this time it was a Holsteiner beneath him as John and Crown Affair won the $10k Hunter Derby in Thermal yesterday.
Amazing the versatility of this sire-line breeding; he is a direct Corde son from a Capitol mother. There seems an endless stream of horses with success of all natures from this cross; ie 3/4 (non maternal) siblings. They include numerous international jumpers like Cadett 7 (who comes from this cross on top of a Lord mare from stam 18a2), top breeding progentiors such as the Corrado brothers (from a Maestose mare from stam 6879) and literally many others.
Of course more again can be found when the cross is inverted or offspring derivatives are used. The blood of the Cassini brothers from Capitol and Caletto II from Corde are sought after in jumper breeding programs wherever jumpers are bred.
Crown Affair is approved with the AHHA.
