I'm looking at an ad for a Section C filly and it says she is out of a Section A mare by a Section D stud. Does that sound right?

yes...and should (got forbid) she be more than 13.2 hh when grown she'll get promoted to a D...
it takes a special A mare to make a good C....leadline or hunter A's don't have what it takes to make a big moving C
