dewormed and bute the same day?

My young horse was just wormed (dewormed I should say) w/ Equimax (similar to Zimectrin Gold) today but also is in need of bute. Is it ok to give a gram or two of bute on the same day? I'm waiting on a call from my vet but I bet someone on here knows the answer as well! Thanks

Yes. It is okay. They are not contraindicated. You can check out the Merck Manual online for verification.

THAT SAID...if you're doing both, I personally would plan to hit with a probiotic in the next few days. Granted, not tons of empirical data that it helps, but it sure won't HURT anything and in my experience, it does help get them back on their feed.

Yes, it's OK unless the animal is exceptionally fragile or has tolerated this combination poorly in the past. Dewormer is only going to give the worms a bad day, not the host. :)
